Have you ever been in this situation—the exchange rate looked good when you placed the order, but when you were about to pay, the price seemed to have changed a little?

P2P exchange rate changes do not follow the same logic as spot trading. Once you understand how pricing works, you will not panic.

First, understand: P2P "exchange rates" are set by merchants themselves

Unlike spot trading pairs, prices on the OKX P2P market are not unified by the platform. Each merchant sets their own price. When merchants post an ad, they can choose between two pricing models:

Fixed price: The merchant enters a fixed number. The price is not affected by market fluctuations and stays the same.

Floating price: The merchant sets a "market price + premium percentage." For example, if the current market price is 6.7 and the merchant sets a 2% premium, the listed price is 6.834. It changes as the market price moves.

If the price changes after you place an order, it is usually because the merchant you chose uses floating pricing—the market moves, and the listed price moves with it. It is not the merchant deliberately changing the price.

Where to check the final price: not the ad list, but the order confirmation page

How to confirm the final transaction price: you click into an ad, enter the purchase amount, and before clicking "Confirm Order", the system will generate an order confirmation page. The unit price shown on this page is the final price you will pay.

Standard practice: check the "transaction unit price" on the order confirmation page, then pay according to that number.

Important warning: Once the order is generated, the price is locked. Even if the market price changes afterward, you pay the price locked at the time of ordering. So if you see the price change, do not panic. First check whether you are looking at the "ad list" or the "confirmation page"—the former is a reference price, and the latter is the actual transaction price.

If the order has already been created but the price changed

As long as you have clicked confirm and generated the order, the price is fixed. You pay the amount shown on the order page, and the merchant cannot ask you to pay more just because the market went up.

Common reason for failed trades: some people see the listed price change and cancel the order to place a new one, only to find the new price is even higher. Before placing an order, check the price on the confirmation page first, then click confirm. Do not keep jumping back and forth just because you see price fluctuations on the ad list.

Next steps

Next time you trade on OKX P2P, remember this order: select an ad → enter the amount → check the unit price on the order confirmation page → confirm it is correct before clicking order. The number on the ad list is only a reference. The number on the confirmation page is your actual transaction price.
