"I connected to that small website, and then my money disappeared?" — This kind of thing happens almost every day in the Web3 world. The problem is usually not the final transfer you made, but the "approval" you casually clicked a few months ago. The OKX Wallet actually has a built-in "cleanup" tool that can revoke those permissions you have long forgotten in one click.

Core risk: Approval is giving someone the "key to your house"

A wallet approval is permission you give to a smart contract to use a certain type of asset in your wallet. Once you grant permission to a malicious contract, or forget to revoke it, it can transfer your coins without needing your signature.

Over the past two years, approval-related thefts alone have caused billions of dollars in losses.Assets are often stolen not because private keys were leaked, but because "approvals" were not fully revoked.

Step 1: Find the "Approval Management" entry in the OKX Wallet

This feature is hidden right inside your wallet. You do not need to jump to any third-party website.

  • [What to do]: Enter the wallet's approval management page and view the list of all approved DApps.

  • [How to do it]:

    • Open the OKX App and switch to the [Web3 Wallet].

    • On the wallet homepage, find and tap the "Approval" tab or the "Security Center" entry. Inside, you will find the "Approval Management" option.

  • [Completion standard]: The page displays an approval list showing all the DApps or contracts you have ever approved, along with their corresponding networks.

Step 2: Identify and revoke "problem approvals"

The list shows each contract's approval amount and last interaction time. You need to focus on two types: contracts you do not recognize and approvals showing "unlimited amount".

  • [What to do]: Revoke approvals that are no longer used or look suspicious.

  • [How to do it]:

    1. Find the target item in the approval list.

    2. Tap "Revoke approval" or "Cancel approval".

    3. The wallet will pop up a transaction for you to confirm.Revoking an approval requires paying the gas fee on that chain (for example, Ethereum mainnet is usually more expensive than BSC).

  • [Completion standard]: The approval record disappears from your list, or its status changes to "Revoked".

Risk reminder: Revoking an approval does not affect assets you have staked in a protocol. It only stops the contract from transferring tokens out of your wallet. However, after revoking some approvals, if you still want to continue using that protocol, such as Uniswap, the wallet will prompt you that "re-approval is required" the next time you trade. This is a normal security process.

Advanced tip: The wallet's "automatic alert" feature

Do not wait until something goes wrong before checking the list. The OKX Wallet has two features that can save you trouble:

  1. Full historical approval analysis: The wallet backend can analyze all historical approval records on major networks, such as Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, and others, since you created the wallet. The coverage is very broad.

  2. Idle approval risk alert: If you have not interacted with a DApp for more than 30 days, the wallet will mark it in the approval list to remind you that it is time to clean it up.
