Company Registered Address and Operating Address Differ: How to Prepare OKX Account Opening Documents?

When a company's registered address and operating address are different, the rule for OKX corporate verification is very clear: fill in the registered address exactly as shown on your business license, fill in your actual office location as the main operating address, and upload an additional document that proves this actual address. Fill in the two addresses separately. Do not try to use one document to cover both.

What Each Address Field Means

In OKX's corporate/institutional verification process, the address section asks for a "registered address" and a "main operating address (if different from the registered address)." The registered address should be based on the address shown on your business license or registration certificate. Copy it exactly. The main operating address refers to where your company's main office or headquarters is actually located, where management decisions and daily business activities take place. If your company is registered at a virtual office or a park address, but your actual team works somewhere else, the main operating address should be your actual office location.

There is no room to choose "which one is more favorable" here. The platform wants the true details of each address, not just one of them. If you only fill in the registered address and skip the actual operating address, your application may be rejected later when address proof is needed or when a review is triggered, because the information is incomplete.

What You Need for Operating Address Proof

As long as the main operating address is different from the registered address, you must upload proof of address (POA). This document needs to show both the company's legal name and the main operating address, and it must be dated within the last 3 months. Lease agreements and insurance policies are exceptions: a lease agreement must be signed, dated, and valid within one year; an insurance policy must also be signed, dated, and valid within one year.

Acceptable document types include: bank statements, tax forms or tax returns, payroll statements, lease agreements, insurance policies, and utility bills (water, electricity, gas, trash, TV or internet, landline, mobile phone bills).

Which document you choose depends on what you have on hand. If your actual office is rented, a lease agreement is the most direct option, but pay attention to its validity period and signature date. If utility or internet bills are registered under the company name and show the actual office address, those bills can also work. For bank statements and tax documents, you need to confirm that they show the actual operating address, not the registered address. Otherwise, they cannot be used to prove the "main operating address."

The file format can be a clear photo of the original document or a PDF. Do not use screenshots. Screenshots are generally not accepted during address proof review.

Common Problems

Registered address and operating address are swapped. You fill in the actual office as the registered address and the virtual address as the operating address, but the lease agreement you upload corresponds to the actual office. The address proof does not match the operating address you entered, and the review will get stuck.

The date on the operating address proof is expired. Bank statements, tax documents, and utility bills older than 3 months will be considered invalid. Lease agreements and insurance policies have different timing rules, but they must still be within their validity period.

The company name on the document is incomplete. The legal name shown on the address proof must match the company name on your business license. If the bill only shows an abbreviation or a trading name, it may not be accepted.

Thinking that the registered address also needs address proof. The registered address itself does not require a separate proof document, because the business license already contains the registered address information. Only when the main operating address is different from the registered address do you need to provide separate proof for the operating address.

How to Do It

Corporate verification must be done on the web version. The app does not support it. The entry point is on the OKX website. Click the profile icon in the top right corner, go to "Identity Verification," and select "Corporate/Institutional Verification." When filling in basic company information, the registered address and the main operating address are two separate fields. At the document upload step, upload your prepared document under "Proof of Operating Address." After submitting, check the review result on the verification status page. If you are asked to provide additional materials, handle each item listed in the notice.
