If your Android "Passkey" verification fails, it is most likely a system service mismatch, not a problem with your account itself.

Passkey relies on Google Play services or your phone manufacturer's KeyStore (such as Samsung or Xiaomi) to store keys. If these underlying services are outdated, permissions are not granted, or the system time is inaccurate, the verification window may not appear or may not respond when tapped.

Check the Basic Phone Environment First

Goal: Make sure system-level services are running properly and can receive verification requests.

Steps:

  1. Update "Google Play services" and "Google Play Store": Passkey verification depends on the Play services framework. If the version is too old, new and old key algorithms may be incompatible. Check in your settings whether both are up to date.

  2. Calibrate system time: Passkey verification is extremely sensitive to time errors. Open your phone's "Settings" > "System" > "Date & time" and make sure "Set automatically" is turned on and the time zone is selected automatically.

  3. Allow notification and pop-up permissions: On some Android systems, the verification pop-up depends on the app's notification or overlay permissions. If nothing happens after tapping "Passkey" in OKX, go to your phone's "Settings" > "Apps" and check whether OKX's notification permission is disabled.

  4. Restart your phone: Sometimes a system service process is stuck. Restarting can reset the connection states of Bluetooth, NFC, and encryption services, which can fix many recognition issues.

Completion standard: After confirming the above settings, reopen the OKX app and try verification again.

If It Still Does Not Work, Try Removing and Rebinding

If the system environment is fine, the key file saved on the device may be corrupted or out of sync with the server-side record.

Goal: Remove the old key and let OKX generate a new matching key.

Steps:

  1. Do it in the OKX app: Go to "Security settings" > "Passkey management". In the bound list, delete the device that is having problems.

  2. Add it again: Close the app from the background, reopen it, go back to Passkey settings, and select "Create new key". Follow the prompts to register your fingerprint or face. This will write a new matching key into your phone's KeyStore.

Completion standard: After rebinding is successful, the verification pop-up should appear normally and respond to fingerprint or face recognition the next time you log in or withdraw.
