Wrong Network, Same Address on Binance? 3 Steps to Recover Your Deposit

Sending crypto using the wrong network but to the same address can happen. Whether you can get your funds back depends on 3 main things: is the transaction confirmed on-chain, does the deposit address belong to Binance, and does Binance support that coin and network.

Step 1: Make sure the transaction is confirmed on-chain

This is the first thing you must check. If the transaction isn't recorded on the blockchain, Binance can't do anything.

  • What to do: Copy the TxID (transaction hash) from your deposit record. Go to the right blockchain explorer (for example, use bscscan.com for BSC or etherscan.io for ERC20) and see if the status is "Success" or "Completed."

  • What to look for: The transaction must be confirmed, and the "To" address must be the exact deposit address you got from Binance.

Step 2: Check if the "To" address belongs to Binance

This is the most important part. If the address is a Binance deposit address, Binance can help. If it's your own wallet or someone else's, Binance cannot step in.

  • Case A: The address is the Binance deposit address given to you. There is hope. Your funds are inside a Binance-managed wallet, just not matched to your account because the network was wrong. Binance has a structured "self-service recovery" process. After you submit a request, the tech team can manually credit the funds to your account.

  • Case B: The address is your own wallet or someone else's wallet. Binance cannot get involved. If the money is still at your own wallet address, you can import the private key or recovery phrase using the correct network and move it yourself. If the address belongs to someone else, only that person can help. Binance does not handle this kind of recovery.

Risk note: The recovery process often takes a few business days to up to 30 days, depending on the coin, network, and complexity. Binance will charge a handling fee (for example, about 200 USDT for wrong-network recoveries). This fee is taken from the recovered funds. If the amount is small, the fee could be larger than what you get back.

Step 3: Submit Binance's self-service recovery request

Once you've confirmed the first two steps, use the official application channel.

  • What to do: Log into your Binance account, go to the Help Center, and find the "Crypto deposit not credited" or "Deposit recovery" section. When you apply, you will need to provide:

    • Transaction TxID

    • The coin and the amount you deposited

    • The wrong network you used

    • Your Binance deposit address

    • If needed, a screenshot of the transaction or a video recording

  • What to expect: After submission, you will get a case number. You can check the status in "Request Records."

Common reasons for failure

  • Withdrawals can't be reversed: If you used the wrong network during a withdrawal, the funds have already left Binance. Binance cannot cancel or get them back for you.

  • Coin or network not supported at all: If Binance doesn't support that coin or network, the chance of recovery is very low. Binance.US clearly states they cannot recover completely unsupported assets. The main exchange may offer recovery for some EVM-compatible chains, but it is evaluated case by case.

  • Incomplete or wrong information: A wrong TxID, wrong network selected, or images that don't meet requirements will cause your request to be rejected.

After you submit the request

  • How to check: Keep an eye on your case status. Binance usually gives a first response within 2–3 business days. Complex cases can take up to 30 days.

  • What to do next: Once the recovery succeeds, check your account balance immediately. While waiting, do not submit the same request again – that slows the process. First, double-check the TxID is correct, then contact support if needed.
