2. What to Do if the "Length is Wrong"
"Length wrong" is usually not about the length itself, but a format incompatibility.
Case A: Binance prompts "Invalid Tag" or "Invalid Memo"
Binance's frontend validates the Tag format. If the Tag you entered does not meet the chain's format requirements (e.g., entering letters for XRP), the system will directly throw an "Invalid Tag/Memo" error and will not let you submit.
Solution: Confirm that the Tag format matches Binance requirements. If the receiving platform's Tag truly does not comply, you need to contact the receiving platform to confirm if it supports transfers on that chain, or if an alternative method (like on-chain memo) is needed.
Case B: Binance does not report an error, but the receiving platform requires a shorter Tag
If Binance allows submission but the receiving platform's Tag length requirement differs from what you filled, the best approach is to first contact the receiving platform's customer support and ask, "When withdrawing from Binance to your platform, what Tag should I fill in?". Different platforms may generate Tags for the same coin using different logic; asking officially is the safest.
Risk reminder: If the Tag is wrong or omitted, the transaction will still succeed on-chain, but the receiving platform cannot allocate the funds to your account, and the assets may not be credited. The recovery process is complicated and success is not guaranteed. Binance's self-recovery only covers deposits to Binance accounts. For scenarios where you withdraw from Binance to an external platform with a wrong Tag, Binance usually cannot assist.
After doing the above checks, how do you know you filled it correctly?
On the Binance withdrawal page, after filling in the address and Tag, do not submit immediately. Confirm that the Tag format meets the chain's requirements (e.g., XRP all numbers, XLM letters+numbers), and the Tag value shown on the receiving platform's deposit page exactly matches what you entered on Binance.
