Binance Withdrawal Returned? Troubleshooting Fees and Refund Path

If your withdrawal is returned, there are two main reasons: wrong address or network, or the bank refused the transfer. How fees are handled depends on the exact cause — for a failed on-chain transfer, the fee is usually not refunded; for a fiat withdrawal rejected by the bank, the fee may also be non-refundable. Don't rush to resubmit. Follow these three steps to identify the issue and minimize your loss.

Step 1: Check On-Chain Status with TxID – Distinguish "Failed" from "Returned"

This is the most critical step. It tells you directly whether your money has actually left Binance.

What to do:

  1. Log in to Binance, go to [Wallet] → [Transaction History], and find the withdrawal record.

  2. Click the TxID (transaction hash) next to the record. The system will automatically open the corresponding blockchain explorer (e.g., Etherscan, BscScan, Tronscan).

  3. Check the transaction status in the explorer:

Case A: Status shows "Success"

  • This means the coins have been sent from Binance's address and confirmed by the blockchain network. The funds are no longer under Binance's control.

  • If the recipient didn't receive them: The receiving platform may not have credited the deposit yet (needs more network confirmations), or you may have sent to an incompatible wallet/network. In this situation, Binance cannot reverse the transaction. You need to contact the receiving platform or wallet provider for help.

Case B: Status shows "Fail" or "Dropped & Replaced"

  • This means the transaction was not successfully packed into a block on-chain. The coins never left Binance and will be returned to your funding account within a certain timeframe.

  • According to relevant Binance payment rules for failed transactions, both the payment amount and the fee can be returned in crypto to the funding account. However, this mainly applies to Send Cash/P2P scenarios. For a regular on-chain withdrawal that fails, the network fee (miner fee) is usually not refunded — only the principal is returned.

Verification standard: You can clearly say whether the explorer shows "Success" or "Fail". If "Success", the problem lies with the receiving side; if "Fail", follow Binance's internal refund process.

Risk warning: Never trust third-party ads in search engines promising "professional asset recovery". Once a blockchain transaction is confirmed, it is irreversible. Anyone claiming they can retrieve confirmed assets is only trying to steal from you.

Step 2: Check Address and Network – The Most Common Return Area

If you chose the wrong network (e.g., ERC20 when the recipient only supports TRC20) or entered an incorrect address, the coins are likely lost forever rather than being "returned".

What to do:

  1. Verify that the withdrawal address you entered is completely correct. Compare character by character, paying attention to upper/lower case (even though most addresses are case-insensitive, it's a good habit to check).

  2. Confirm that the network protocol you selected (e.g., TRC-20, ERC-20, BEP-20) matches the network supported by the receiving platform or wallet.

  3. If the money was sent to a third-party platform (like another exchange), go there first and check the "Deposit History" for a "Pending" or "Processing" status. Some platforms need more network confirmations before crediting.

Verification standard: You have confirmed the address is correct, the network is correct, and the receiving platform shows no errors.

Common cause of failure: Many people think "coins sent on the wrong network will be automatically returned", but this is a misunderstanding. Choosing the wrong network usually means the coins land in a mirrored version of that address on the wrong network. If the receiver hasn't configured that network, the coins may be permanently lost. Only in very rare cases can the receiver help recover them. Checking carefully before sending is far more important than trying to fix things afterward.

Step 3: Fiat Withdrawal Returned – Bank Information Error

If you withdrew fiat (e.g., USD, EUR), the most common reasons for a return are incorrect bank account details or bank refusal.

What to do:

  1. Check that the bank account name, account number, and branch information you entered match your bank's records exactly. Pay special attention to the accuracy of the branch name.

  2. If you are sure the details are correct, contact your bank to confirm whether they accept transfers from cryptocurrency exchange platforms.

  3. If the withdrawal is returned, Binance's fiat order page will show a "Refund Processing" status. The fee already charged is usually not refunded when a withdrawal is returned.

Verification standard: You have confirmed the bank details are correct, or you have contacted the bank and identified the reason for refusal.

Final Verification Steps

  1. If on-chain withdrawal fails (status "Fail"): Wait 24–72 hours to see if the funds are automatically returned to your Binance funding account. If they haven't appeared after 3 business days, submit a support ticket through the official website.

  2. If fiat withdrawal is returned: The bank usually sends the money back within 24 hours, but the fee is not refunded. Check your bank card balance for changes.

  3. If you chose the wrong network/address: If the blockchain explorer shows "Success" but the funds did not arrive, contact the receiving platform or wallet provider. Binance cannot intervene.

Next step: If the transaction is still unconfirmed and shows "Pending", do nothing for now. Once the broadcast is confirmed, it cannot be cancelled. In the future, before withdrawing, always do a small test transaction to verify the address and network. Once the test arrives successfully, then send the larger amount — spending 5 minutes on this test can save you days of trouble later.
