How to Handle Returned Binance Card Bank Card Payments
When a bank card payment is returned, first confirm two things: whether the deduction status is "Pending" or "Completed", and whether the funds have actually been debited from your account. If the status is "Pending" and the merchant does not settle the transaction for a long time, it will be automatically reversed and the funds will arrive within 30 days. If the status is "Completed" but the transaction failed, the funds are usually automatically returned to your Funding Wallet (in the form of USDC) after the failure.
1. First Confirm the Transaction Status: Pending vs Completed
What to do: Log in to Binance and check the specific status of this transaction in the "Card Dashboard".
How to do it:
Log in to your Binance account and go to [Card Dashboard] or [Transaction History].
Find the returned transaction and check its status label.
Scenario A: Status is "Pending"
The merchant has not yet settled the transaction, and the funds are in a frozen state.
If the merchant cancels the transaction, the funds will automatically be returned after 30 days to your Funding Wallet. No action is required.
There is no need to contact customer support during this period; simply wait.
Scenario B: Status is "Completed" but the transaction was unsuccessful
The transaction has been settled but later cancelled, and the refund process has been initiated.
The refund usually takes 30 business days to be processed into your Funding Wallet.
If a bank card withdrawal fails (e.g., incorrect bank information), the funds will be automatically returned in the form of USDC, and you can try withdrawing again.
Scenario C: Transaction directly failed or was declined (Failed/Declined)
The funds were not actually deducted, or were deducted but immediately returned.
Possible reasons include: insufficient balance, incorrect card number or PIN, system timeout, or bank rejection.
When is it considered complete: You have identified which scenario the order belongs to and know whether any active operation is required.
If a transaction remains in "Pending" status, it means the Binance Card has reserved the amount but the merchant has not settled it. The system will automatically release the funds after 30 days, and no proactive refund application is needed.
2. Troubleshooting Common Causes of Failed Transactions
What to do: If the transaction fails directly rather than being reversed from "Pending", investigate the most common causes.
How to do it:
Insufficient Balance
Ensure that your Funding Wallet or Spot Wallet balance covers the transaction amount. The Binance Card deducts funds according to the "Payment Priority" order you have set.
If the balance of the cryptocurrency in the priority list is insufficient, the transaction will be declined.
Incorrect Information Entered
Check that the card number, expiry date, CVV, or PIN are correct.
If it is a bank card withdrawal (Sell Crypto function), the bank card used for the withdrawal may never have had a top-up activity on Binance. It needs to be activated through a $0 verification transaction first.
Bank-side or Compliance Issues
The payment may have failed anti-money laundering (AML) or counter-terrorism financing (CFT) screening.
The card was restricted by the issuer (e.g., cross-border payments or cryptocurrency-related transactions being declined).
Impact of Service Provider Changes
Binance's fiat payment service provider underwent a change on December 31, 2025, which may briefly affect some payment methods.
When is it considered complete: You have ruled out these common causes and determined whether you need to contact Binance or your bank.
Prerequisites: You can log in to your Binance account and access the Card transaction history.
3. Check Refund Status and Where Funds Go
What to do: Check if the refund has arrived and confirm which account the funds have returned to.
How to do it:
Fund Destination:
The refund will be returned to your Binance Funding Wallet, usually credited in the form of USDC.
It is not returned to the original cryptocurrency or fiat currency spent, because the Binance Card settles transactions with merchants through USDC.
How to Check:
Go to [Card Dashboard] → [Transaction History] and check the refund status of the corresponding transaction.
Go to [Wallet] → [Funding Wallet] to see if the USDC balance has increased.
Important Reminders:
The refund cycle is usually 30 business days. Please be patient.
Transaction fees incurred at the time of purchase will not be refunded.
If cashback was earned on that transaction, Binance reserves the right to reclaim the issued cashback when a refund is processed.
When is it considered complete: Refund status and amount are confirmed, and the funds have returned to the Funding Wallet (in the form of USDC).
Risk Reminders:
Cashback will be reclaimed: Cashback generated from a refunded transaction will be deducted when the refund is processed, and the adjustment will be shown in the transaction details.
Long refund processing time: The merchant's refund processing period can take up to 30 business days. During this period, do not repeatedly submit appeals or contact customer service multiple times to avoid affecting the processing progress.
Fees are non-refundable: Fees incurred at the time of the card transaction (e.g., currency conversion fees, cross-border fees) are not refunded.
How to confirm that you have handled it correctly?
Find this transaction in the [Card Dashboard]. If the status shows "Refunded" or has disappeared from "Pending", and the corresponding amount of USDC has been credited to your Funding Wallet, the refund has been completed. If the funds have not arrived after 30 business days or the refund amount does not match, contact Binance customer support and provide the order number or TxID of that transaction for manual verification.
