How to Participate in Binance Prediction Markets? Ordering, Exiting, and Settlement

In Binance's prediction market, what you buy is a "share of an event outcome," not a coin. YES and NO shares are priced between 0.01 and 0.99 US dollars, and the price itself represents the market's belief in the probability that the event will happen. At settlement, the winning side pays you 1 dollar per share, while the losing side goes to zero. You can sell your shares at any time before the event settles to lock in profit or cut losses; you do not have to wait until the end. Orders use USDT, but the entire process runs through a separate prediction account inside Binance Wallet, separate from your spot account.

What It Actually Is and Who Provides the Service

Binance's prediction market itself does not create events or act as a counterparty. It is only an access layer. The underlying markets are provided by a third-party protocol called Predict.fun, running on BNB Smart Chain (BSC). The markets and prices you see in the Binance App come from Predict.fun's on-chain order book.

This means a few things. The settlement rules of the market are set by Predict.fun, not Binance. When you trade, you are interacting with Predict.fun's smart contracts and order book. If there is a dispute, it goes through Predict.fun's on-chain arbitration process, not Binance customer service.

Regional restrictions are a hard requirement. Binance's official announcement clearly states that the prediction market is only open to eligible regions and may not be available to all users. If you open the App and do not see the [Prediction] tab, it is very likely that your region is not on the list. Binance has not published a complete list of regions, nor has it promised where it will expand.

First-Time Use Requires Opening a Prediction Account

When you place your first order, the system will pop up a setup guide and automatically create a Prediction Account. This account is powered by Binance Wallet's keyless MPC technology, so you do not need to manually manage private keys or seed phrases.

The prediction account is separate from your existing spot account and funding account. You can choose to place orders directly using the USDT balance in your spot or funding account, or you can first manually transfer USDT into the prediction account. For first-time use, it is recommended to transfer a small amount of USDT first so you can clearly understand the boundary between your spot balance and prediction balance, avoiding mistakes later.

Gas fees are covered by Binance Wallet. You do not need to hold BNB to pay for on-chain transaction and settlement fees.

How to Place an Order: Market Order and Limit Order

Path: Binance App → Switch to [Pro] view → Bottom [Markets] → Top [Prediction].

After selecting an event, you will see YES and NO options along with their current prices. Confirm which side you want to buy, then choose the order type:

Market order executes immediately at the current best price. Limit order only executes at your specified price or better, and any unfilled portion remains in the order book. You can cancel it at any time.

After entering the amount in USDT, the system will automatically calculate how many shares you can buy and how much you would get back if you are correct. Confirm and submit.

One thing to note: placing an order does not mean it is filled. Market orders usually match quickly, but limit orders will stay open until the price reaches your level. In [Assets] → [Prediction], the "positions" you see are the parts that have already been filled, while "order history" contains all open orders and fill records.

When You Can Sell and When You Can Only Wait

Each prediction market goes through three stages:

Stage One: Trading in progress. The event has not happened yet or is still ongoing, and the market is open normally. You can buy or sell shares at any time, and prices fluctuate in real time according to the order book.

Stage Two: Market ended, settlement in progress. The underlying event has ended, such as a match finishing, but the data provider has not yet confirmed the final result on-chain. During this stage, trading is still open, and you can still buy and sell. However, prices may swing sharply because the outcome is basically clear, and liquidity may also worsen.

Stage Three: Resolved. The final result has been recorded on-chain and trading is closed. Holders of winning shares can claim 1 dollar per share, while losing shares are automatically zeroed out and removed.

Selling early is an important operation in prediction markets. If you sell at a price higher than your purchase price in Stage One or Stage Two, your profit is settled immediately, with no claim process needed. This is fundamentally different from traditional "bet and wait for the result" gameplay: you can manage your position just like trading stocks.

Settlement and Claiming: Winners Need to Claim Manually

After the market enters the "Resolved" state, if the side you hold has won, you need to claim manually. The path is [Assets] → [Prediction], find the resolved position, and click [Claim].

The reward you claim is USDT, which goes directly into your prediction account. Each winning share pays 1.00 dollar. If you bought 1000 YES shares at 0.40 dollars each and YES wins, you claim back 1000 dollars, making a net profit of 600 dollars, assuming you did not sell early.

Settlement is not instant. Predict.fun uses an on-chain oracle system to handle settlement. After the event ends, someone submits a settlement proposal with a deposit attached. If no one disputes it during the challenge period, the market settles automatically. If someone disputes it, it enters an arbitration process. This means there may be a waiting period after the event ends, and you may not be able to claim your money immediately.

Some Practical Issues You May Encounter

Order has not been filled. It is normal for a limit order to sit in the order book waiting for a match. Check whether your limit price is too far from the current market price, or simply cancel the order and use a market order instead.

Cannot see the [Prediction] tab. First confirm the App is the latest version, officially requiring iOS 3.11.1+ / Android 3.11.2+, then check whether you are in [Markets] under the [Pro] view. If everything is correct and it is still missing, it is very likely due to regional restrictions.

Market resolved but no claim button. Confirm whether the market status has changed to "Resolved" rather than "Market Ended." You cannot claim in Stage Two; you can only sell.

What to do if the result is disputed. Predict.fun has an on-chain dispute mechanism. You can stake OPN tokens to challenge a settlement result you believe is wrong. This is not something Binance customer service can handle; you need to go through Predict.fun's arbitration process.

One final structural reminder: The share price in a prediction market is the market consensus probability, not odds set by the platform. This means the money you earn comes from other traders, not the house. In markets with low liquidity, the bid-ask spread can be very wide, and you may trade at a much worse price than expected. Before trading, looking at the depth of the order book is more important than just looking at the current price.
