Have you recently felt that your trading fees have become more expensive? No need to doubt it. Binance fees are tied to your VIP tier, and the VIP tier updates automatically every day. If your recent trading volume has dropped, your tier falls and your fee rate goes back up.

Today I will tell you three things: what determines your fee rate, where to check it, and what to do about it.

Step 1: Understand How Your Fee Rate Is Determined

Binance fees are not fixed. Your VIP tier determines the fee rate. The VIP tier is determined by two indicators: 30-day trading volume and BNB holdings. Meeting either requirement can upgrade your tier.

Spot base fee rate (VIP 0):

  • Maker: 0.10%

  • Taker: 0.10%

Futures base fee rate (VIP 0):

  • Maker: 0.02%

  • Taker: 0.05%

Paying fees with BNB gives you an extra discount.

Step 2: Where to Check Your VIP Tier and Fee Rate

Goal: Check your current VIP tier, 30-day trading volume, and BNB holdings.

How to do it: Open the Binance app or website.

  1. Tap the profile icon in the top right corner

  2. Select the "VIP" or "Fees" menu

After doing this, you will see three things on the page: your current VIP tier, trading volume over the past 30 days, and BNB holdings. The fee table will show the Maker/Taker fee rates for your current VIP tier.

Note: Your 30-day trading volume updates every day, and the VIP tier updates automatically the next day. If your recent trading volume has dropped sharply, your tier has likely already fallen.

Step 3: If Your Tier Has Dropped — How to Fix It

Case A: Not enough trading volume The 30-day trading volume is calculated on a rolling basis. It counts the cumulative volume over the past 30 days every day. If you have traded less recently, you just need to wait for your volume to increase, and the system will automatically upgrade you again.

Case B: Not enough BNB holdings You can also reach a VIP tier through BNB holdings, and the threshold is relatively lower. According to the standards adjusted in March 2026:

  • VIP 1: 30-day futures trading volume ≥ $5M or BNB holdings ≥ 5 BNB

  • VIP 2: 30-day futures trading volume ≥ $10M or BNB holdings ≥ 25 BNB

  • VIP 3: 30-day futures trading volume ≥ $50M or BNB holdings ≥ 100 BNB

If your trading volume is not enough but you hold BNB, meeting the holdings requirement can also maintain your tier.

FAQ

Q: How much can I save by paying fees with BNB? A: You get an additional discount on top of your existing VIP tier fee rate. Go to [Wallet] → [Fee Payment Coin] and select BNB to activate it automatically.

Q: How often does the VIP tier update? A: It updates once a day. Binance calculates trading volume between 09:00 and 13:00 Beijing time every day, and the tier updates the next day.

Next Steps

Open the Binance app now, tap the profile icon in the top right corner, and go to the "VIP" page to check your current tier.

  • If you find that your tier has dropped, you should either trade more or hold more BNB over the next month.

  • If your tier is correct but fees still feel expensive, go to [Wallet] and turn on "Use BNB to pay fees" — this is the fastest way to reduce costs.
