How to Deposit XLM to Binance? Address and Network Verification
The key to depositing XLM is: Both the address and Memo must be filled in, neither can be omitted. Binance uses a shared deposit address for all users and relies on the Memo (tag) to identify whose funds have arrived. If XLM is sent to the correct address but the Memo is wrong or missing, the system cannot match it to your account and the funds will not be credited automatically.
1. Complete Binance Account KYC
What to do: Make sure your Binance account has completed identity verification.
How to do it:
Log in to the Binance app or website, go to [Profile] → [Identity Verification].
Follow the instructions to submit your ID documents and complete standard identity verification.
When is it done: Your account displays "Verified" or "Standard Identity Verification" status.
Accounts that have not completed KYC cannot use the deposit function.
2. Get XLM Deposit Address and Memo from Binance
What to do: Log in to Binance, go to the deposit page, and obtain the XLM deposit address and Memo tag. These are two separate pieces of information that need to be copied individually.
How to do it:
Log in to the Binance app or website, click [Wallet] → [Deposit] → [Deposit Crypto].
Search for "XLM". When selecting the network, you must choose Stellar Network or the XLM network.
The page will display two key pieces of information:
Deposit Address: A Stellar network address. This is Binance's main wallet address and is used for all XLM deposits.
Memo: A combination of letters and numbers that serves as your unique identifier. The Memo format may contain both letters and digits.
Copy both items separately. The Memo must be copied from the Binance deposit page to ensure accuracy.
When is it done: Both the address and Memo are successfully copied, and you have confirmed that the Memo is the unique identifier assigned to your current account.
Prerequisite: Binance KYC identity verification has been completed.
Reminder: If you cannot find the Memo or network option on the XLM deposit page, the deposit address may be undergoing migration. Log into your Binance account to obtain the new address. Binance periodically retires some old deposit addresses; after receiving official notification, you must actively obtain a new address and Memo.
3. Initiate Transfer from External Wallet: Both Fields Must Be Filled
What to do: Deposit XLM to Binance from your external wallet (such as OKX Web3 Wallet, Trust Wallet, etc.).
How to do it:
Open your external wallet, find your XLM balance, and click [Send] or [Transfer].
Paste the XLM address you copied from Binance into the "Recipient Address" field.
Critical Step: Locate the Memo field (some wallets call it "Memo", "Tag", or "Destination Tag") and paste the Memo you copied from Binance. XLM Memo is a combination of letters and numbers.
Confirm Network: When choosing the network, you must select Stellar Network – exactly the same as the network you selected on Binance. Choosing the wrong network will result in loss of funds.
Submit the transaction.
When is it done: The transaction has been submitted and the wallet displays "Transaction broadcast" or "Pending confirmation" with a TxID.
Common reasons for failure:
Memo omitted: This is the most common issue with XLM deposits. Forgetting to enter the Memo means funds go into Binance's main wallet but cannot be matched to your account, requiring a manual recovery process.
Wrong Memo: Entering someone else's Memo may result in funds being credited to another user's account; Binance cannot assist with recovery.
Wrong network: If you selected the Stellar network on Binance but a different network in your wallet, the funds will not arrive.
Risk Warning:
Network mismatch = funds may be permanently lost: Selecting the wrong network is a common cause of asset loss.
Deposit addresses can be migrated: Binance migrates deposit addresses for certain networks, and old addresses and Memos become invalid after 30 days. Before each deposit, log in to Binance to verify the latest address and Memo.
4. Confirm Arrival
What to do: Wait for blockchain confirmations and check your Binance account balance.
How to do it:
Use the TxID to check the transaction status on a Stellar blockchain explorer (such as stellar.expert).
Log in to Binance, go to [Wallet] → [Spot Wallet], and see if your XLM balance has increased.
When is it done: The XLM balance in your Binance spot wallet has been updated.
How to verify that you performed the steps correctly?
Enter the TxID into a Stellar explorer and confirm the transaction status is "Success". Then log in to Binance and check that your XLM balance has increased on the [Assets] page. If both the address and Memo were entered correctly and the on-chain status shows success, the deposit usually arrives within a few minutes. For first-time transfers, it's recommended to send a small test amount (such as 1-5 XLM) before sending the remainder.
If the transaction is confirmed on-chain but the funds have not arrived after more than 30 minutes, the issue is most likely Memo-related. You will need to submit a request through Binance's self-service recovery page. Processing typically takes more than 7 business days, and funds will be returned to the sending address.
