When buying crypto on Binance with a bank card, you may see a "3D verification failed" message. This is usually not a Binance issue. It means your card-issuing bank rejected the transaction.

In simple terms, "3D verification" is an extra security layer added by banks for online payments. It asks you to enter a mobile verification code or complete face recognition to confirm that you are the one making the payment. If verification does not pass, the bank will block the payment for risk control reasons.

Step 1: Check whether your bank mobile number matches

This is the most common cause. When the bank sends a verification code, it sends it to the mobile number reserved at the bank counter. If the phone number linked to your Binance account is different from the one reserved with your bank card, the code may never reach you.

  • What to do: Check and make sure the two phone numbers are exactly the same.
  • How to do it: Open your mobile banking app, go to "Security Center" or "Personal Information", and find the "reserved mobile number". Then open the security settings of your Binance account and compare whether the two numbers match.
  • Completion standard: If they do not match, you need to update the reserved mobile number at a bank branch or through mobile banking.

Step 2: If the numbers match, check the card's overseas payment or online payment switch

Many bank cards issued in China have "overseas online payment" or "international payment" disabled by default. Binance payment channels are usually treated as overseas transactions. If this switch is off, the bank will directly reject the payment request.

  • What to do: Enable the card's "overseas online payment" permission.
  • How to do it: Log in to your mobile banking app, go to "Payment Management" or "Card Settings", and look for "overseas payment", "online payment", or "international transaction" options. Confirm that the function is turned on.
  • Completion standard: The function status shows "enabled".

Step 3: Check payment limit restrictions

Bank cards usually have single-transaction or daily payment limits. If the transaction amount exceeds the limit, the bank will also reject the transaction.

  • What to do: Make sure the card payment limit is sufficient.
  • How to do it: In the "Payment Management" section of your mobile banking app, check the "single-transaction limit" and "daily cumulative limit". Confirm that your transaction amount does not exceed the limit.
  • Completion standard: The transaction amount is less than the currently available payment limit. If it exceeds the limit, you need to temporarily raise the limit or split the payment.

Risk reminder

Do not repeatedly attempt the payment. Multiple failures may not only cause your bank card to be temporarily frozen by the bank, but may also trigger Binance risk control and restrict your account functions. It is recommended to check the above steps first, and try again only after confirming the problem is resolved.
