How to Read Binance Alpha On-chain Metrics? Holder Concentration, Smart Money, and Liquidity

Binance Alpha on-chain metrics can be viewed directly in the Binance App. The entry point is the "DYOR" (Do Your Own Research) tab on the spot trading page for Alpha tokens. This page brings together data on top holders, DEX liquidity, and smart money, so you do not need to open other analysis tools. Below we explain how to read these three metrics and where they are often misunderstood.

Holder Concentration: Look at How Many of the Top 10 Holders Are Not Exchanges

The "Top Holders" feature in the DYOR center lists holders with entity labels, such as marking which wallets belong to exchanges and which are DEX liquidity pools. This step is important because judging holder concentration only makes sense after excluding exchange wallets.

It is normal for exchange hot wallets to hold large amounts of tokens. It does not mean the project team controls the supply. What you really need to watch is how much of the total supply is held by the top 10 non-exchange addresses combined. According to the BscScan reference guide, if the top 10 non-exchange addresses control more than 20% of total supply, you should treat the token as having significant concentration risk, no matter what the project team claims.

In the DYOR center, you can directly see the labeled holder list and click through to a blockchain explorer for further verification. One detail to note: DEX liquidity pool addresses, such as PancakeSwap router contracts, have recognizable standard signatures. You should separate them from developer wallets because tokens in pools are there to provide trading depth, not controlled by any single person.

DEX Liquidity: Watch the Depth and Whether It Is Shrinking

The "DEX Liquidity" module in the DYOR center offers several specific angles: liquidity comparison across different blockchains, hourly and daily liquidity trends, and liquidity drawdown over time.

Liquidity depth determines whether your own trade will move the price. For a token with only tens of thousands of dollars in a pool, a trade of a few thousand dollars can cause obvious slippage. But liquidity is not a static number. The trend matters more than the absolute value. If liquidity keeps falling, it means liquidity providers are pulling out and the market's ability to absorb trades is weakening.

Another point to cross-check is whether the liquidity you see in the DYOR center is concentrated in one pool. Some tokens only have depth in one pool on one chain. If that pool has a problem, there is no other price reference. The DYOR center supports comparing liquidity across chains, which helps you judge whether a token's depth is spread out or dependent on a single point.

Smart Money: Watch "Whether They Are Moving," Not "What They Bought"

There are two different entry points for the "smart money" feature in the Binance ecosystem, and they need to be clearly distinguished.

The DYOR center itself does not directly provide smart money signals. It provides top holders, DEX liquidity, CEX wallet aggregation movements, and project fundamentals. Smart money signals are inside the "Signals" feature of Binance Wallet. The path is: Binance App → Assets → Wallet → Markets → Signals.

Here is how it works: Binance's algorithm first identifies a group of on-chain addresses with strong historical returns, called "smart money." Then, when a certain number of these addresses buy the same token within a short time window, a signal is triggered. The signal includes a "smart money exit rate" metric, showing the percentage of smart money addresses that have already sold and left since the signal was issued.

The most common mistake here is treating the signal as a buy recommendation. Binance's own documentation is very clear: smart money signals are not predictions, do not guarantee profit, and do not constitute financial advice. The value of the signal is telling you that a group of historically strong addresses has recently been paying attention to this token. It does not tell you how much they bought, how long they plan to hold, or when they will sell. The exit rate is meant to remind you of this. If the exit rate is already rising, it means the addresses that triggered the signal are leaving.

For Binance Alpha tokens, there is another supplementary signal you can see in the DYOR center: CEX wallet aggregation movements. This module tracks large transfers from on-chain addresses to centralized exchange wallets. Large inflows of tokens into exchanges usually suggest holders may be preparing to sell. Outflows suggest the opposite. Combining this metric with smart money signals is more useful than looking at either one alone.

One Combined Judgment That Is Easy to Miss

Each of these three metrics has blind spots on its own. Holder concentration may be high, but if those large holders are known market makers or long-term locked foundation addresses, the risk is different. Liquidity may look sufficient, but if it is concentrated on one chain and smart money signals show early buyers are exiting, that liquidity may not be able to absorb concentrated selling pressure.

A more practical approach is: first use holder concentration to judge whether the market can absorb selling if large holders decide to sell. Then use DEX liquidity to see how much it can absorb right now. Finally, use smart money signals and CEX aggregation movements to judge whether anyone is preparing to sell. Only when all three steps point in the same direction should the signal be taken more seriously.
