The Seed Tag requires users to pass a risk quiz before they can trade that token. This is not a multiple-choice "suggestion" — it is a mandatory condition that Binance sets for tokens marked with a Seed Tag or Monitoring Tag. The purpose of the quiz is straightforward: to confirm that you understand the high volatility risks of this type of asset before you place an order.

What is a Seed Tag
The Seed Tag is a label used by Binance to identify crypto assets that are in an early development stage. Tokens with this tag may not yet have a working product, a stable user base, or a long price history. They are classified as "innovative projects," and their volatility and risk are usually higher than more established tokens on the platform.
In July 2023, the Seed Tag replaced the old "Binance Innovation Zone" and integrated risk warnings directly into the standard trading interface. You no longer need to go to a separate "Innovation Zone" to see these coins, but you will see a tag and a risk warning banner next to them.
Quiz requirement: once every 90 days
According to Binance rules, to get trading access to tokens with a Seed Tag or Monitoring Tag, users need to pass the relevant quiz and accept the terms of use on Binance Spot and/or Margin platforms every 90 days.
This means that even if you passed the quiz before, your access will expire after about 90 days. When you try to trade the same token again, the system will show the quiz requirement again.
The quiz entry usually appears when you try to trade the token, or you can enter from the page of the relevant trading pair. Binance announcements mention that the Monitoring Tag and Seed Tag can be found on the Binance Spot and Margin trading pages as well as the Market Overview page.
Regional restrictions: not everyone can participate
One easy-to-miss point is that not all Binance users in all regions can trade tokens with a Seed Tag.
For example, HYPE was listed in September 2026 with a Seed Tag. In the Binance announcement, the regions where users cannot trade this token were clearly listed: the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, and areas of Ukraine not controlled by the government. In addition, the HYPE/TRY trading pair is only open to users with a verified Binance Turkey (Binance TR) account.
This list is updated regularly. If your region is restricted, the quiz itself is not the barrier — you are not even eligible to enter the quiz.
What can you do after completing the quiz
After you pass the quiz and accept the terms, your account will get trading access to that token for about 90 days. You can buy and sell on the Spot and/or Margin platforms.
Keep in mind that passing the quiz does not mean Binance endorses that token. The Seed Tag itself is a transparency measure, not a recommendation or endorsement. Binance Academy clearly states that tokens with a Seed Tag "may face a higher failure rate or volatility" and advises users to "do their own research and due diligence before participating in any tagged asset."
What if you fail the quiz
Binance has not publicly stated the passing score or the number of questions. From public information, the purpose of the quiz is to make sure users understand the risks before trading, not to test professional knowledge. If you do not pass the first time, you can usually try again. However, Binance announcements do not clearly state whether there is a waiting period between retakes.
It is important to distinguish two things: passing the quiz and whether your account is allowed to trade are separate matters. If your region is restricted from trading that token, even if you understand all the risks and pass the quiz, the trading entry will not open for you. Regional restrictions and the risk quiz are stacked conditions, not either-or choices.
