OKX Wallet Gas Sufficient but Transaction Failed? Authorization and Network Troubleshooting

You have enough gas fees, you click confirm, and then a string of red error messages pops up. This experience is frustrating. Most of the time, the problem is not about money. It is stuck in authorization, network, or permission issues between the wallet and the DApp.

Check 1: The Approve step was not completed

In DEX trading or on-chain operations, many processes have two steps: Approve → Execute (Swap/Transfer). If you only did the first step, the gas fee is charged, but the second step has not been initiated yet.

Confirm whether the transaction process fully completed both the "Approve" and "Execute" steps.

Steps:

  1. In your OKX Web3 Wallet, go to [Transaction History] and find the latest failed or "pending" transaction.

  2. Check the transaction type. If it shows "Approve" or "Authorization", it means you only completed the step of "allowing the contract to use your tokens". The actual swap or transfer was not completed.

Completion standard: Check whether only the authorization step was completed before the error appeared. If yes, go back to the DApp and initiate the transaction again. This time, perform the follow-up action.

Many wallet DEX pages split "Approve" and "Trade" into two steps. You paid the first gas fee and thought the transaction was done, but the second step was still waiting for your confirmation.

Check 2: Wallet is connected to the wrong network

This is an easy pitfall to miss — the network selected in your wallet does not match the network required by the DApp.

Confirm that the network currently selected at the top of your wallet is the same chain required by the DApp page.

Steps:

  1. Look at the DApp page. Usually there is a network indicator in the upper right corner, such as Ethereum, Polygon, or BNB Chain.

  2. Then check which chain is selected in the network dropdown menu at the top of your OKX Web3 Wallet.

  3. Case A (Match): Continue to the next check.

  4. Case B (Mismatch): Switch to the correct network in your wallet, then refresh the DApp page and try again.

Completion standard: The wallet network and the DApp network are the same, and there are no network-related errors after refreshing the page.

Check 3: Insufficient permissions — a special issue for TRON wallets

If the error message is related to "Permission" and you are using the TRON chain, the problem lies in TRON's address permission mechanism.

Confirm whether the current wallet address has sufficient operation permissions.

Steps:

  1. Check the permission status of the current address on a TRON blockchain explorer.

  2. A TRON address needs Owner permission or Active permission to initiate transactions. If the address permission settings are incorrect, for example if you changed the permission configuration before, the transaction may be rejected even with sufficient gas.

Completion standard: Confirm that the address permission status is normal. If it has been restricted, you need to reset the Owner permission to restore access.

This issue is quite specific to the TRON chain. Other EVM chains like ETH, BSC, and Polygon generally do not have this problem.

Other common checks

If you have completed the three checks above and it still does not work, quickly go through this list:

  1. Insufficient balance: Gas fee is enough, but the transaction amount itself exceeds your wallet balance. Check your token balance in the wallet to confirm.

  2. Insufficient SOL rent: When operating on the Solana chain, you need to keep at least 0.01 SOL in your wallet as account rent. Otherwise, the transaction will fail.

  3. Wallet version is too old: Go to the app store and check if there is an update for the OKX Web3 Wallet.

Next steps

Open your wallet's transaction history and first check whether the latest failed transaction was an "Approve" operation. If yes, it means the second transaction step has not been initiated yet. Go back to the DApp and perform the operation again. If not, check network consistency and TRON permission status in order. Most problems can be solved by checking "authorization not completed" and "wrong network selected".
