Newly registered users have the Unified Account by default, so no additional "enabling" is needed.

If you haven't activated the Unified Account, you are likely an early registered user or haven't confirmed the settings. There are two scenarios:

1. How to Check Your Current Account Mode

App:Tap [Trade] at the bottom → Enter any trading page → Tap the menu icon (⋯) in the top right → [Trade Settings] → [Account Mode].

Web:Log in to the OKX website and go to the trading page → Click the "Settings" icon at the top right → Check "Account Mode".

If it shows "Spot Mode", "Spot & Futures Mode", or another specific mode name, you are already in the Unified Account system. There is no need to "enable" it; you can simply switch between modes.

If it shows "Classic Account" or a similar old account identifier, you need to perform a migration.

2. How to Switch to Unified Account for Existing Users

If you confirm you are still in Classic Account mode:

  1. Log in to the OKX App or website and go to the [Assets] page.

  2. Click [Account Settings] or [Account Switch] in the top right, then select [Account Type].

  3. In the account type list, click [Switch to Unified Account].

  4. Read the risk disclaimer, check the confirmation box, and enter your transaction password to complete the switch.

Switch Conditions:If you have any open orders or positions, you cannot switch. You must cancel all orders and close all positions first, then proceed with the switch.

3. How to Choose Among Four Modes

The Unified Account includes four modes that can be switched in settings as needed:

Account ModeTrading PermissionsActivation Conditions
Spot ModeSpot, options buyer (no margin trading)Default active, suitable for beginners
Spot & Futures ModeSpot, leverage, perpetuals, delivery, optionsComplete quiz to activate
Cross-Margin ModeAll products, multi-currency assets converted to USD as shared marginAccount equity ≥ $10,000 + quiz
Portfolio Margin ModeAll products, margin calculated based on risk modelAccount equity ≥ $10,000 + quiz

First-time users default to "Spot Mode". To switch to an advanced mode, you must first complete the related knowledge quiz.

Does switching modes affect existing assets?

No. Switching account modes only changes trading rules and margin calculation methods; the asset balance in your account will not be lost. However, mode switching requires no open orders or positions; otherwise, the operation cannot proceed.

Can I switch back from Spot & Futures Mode to Spot Mode?

Yes. As long as there are no open orders or positions, you can switch back to any mode in settings at any time. There is no limit on the number of switches between modes, but each switch requires meeting the condition of "no open orders, no positions" beforehand.
