Additional Certification is not a simple KYC supplement. It is a combined "Source of Funds (SoF) + Source of Wealth (SoW)" review initiated by OKX for specific accounts. Once this process is triggered, your account functions can be restricted until the review is passed. The most important step is to provide one or more supporting documents based on the source of funds category you select, then wait for the review result within 24 hours.

Step 1: Find the Additional Certification Entry and Submit the Questionnaire

Open the OKX App, tap [Submit Information] or [Complete Account Verification] to enter the verification page. You can also go through [Upper left menu icon] – [Profile and Settings] – [Identity Verification] – [Verify Now]. The system will first ask you to complete a questionnaire about your Source of Funds (SoF) and Source of Wealth (SoW). If you have multiple sources, choose the most recent and most frequently used source for depositing funds. Once the questionnaire is submitted, you will be taken to the document upload step.

High-risk note: Choosing the wrong category is the most common reason for failure. For example, if you used your salary to buy crypto but select "Investment Returns," the documents you provide will not match the category and your submission will be rejected. If you made a mistake, you can re-enter the page and click [Update Now] to re-select, but each re-selection restarts the review process.

Step 2: Prepare Proof Documents Based on the Selected Source Type

OKX has clear document requirements for different sources of funds. The most common categories are listed below:

Source of Funds CategoryAccepted DocumentsRequired Details
Employment IncomePay slips / Bank statements / Tax certificates / Employment contractFull name, company name and official stamp, salary amount, issue date (within the last 3 months)
Business/Self-employed IncomeBank statements / Tax certificates / Accountant letters / Dividend recordsFull name, company name, amount
Investment ReturnsInvestment account statements / Retirement account statements / Brokerage statements / Tax certificatesFull name, institution name, amount, issued within the last 3 months
Digital Asset Trading/Staking/MiningExchange statements / On-chain transaction records / Staking reward recordsFull name or wallet address, amount, date
Non-Digital Asset Sale (Property/Vehicle, etc.)Sales agreement / Tax certificate / Bank statement / Lawyer letterFull name, asset details, sale amount
Gift/InheritanceNotarized gift letter / Will / Probate documents / Bank statementsFull name, name of donor/testator, asset details

Common failure reason: Many users only upload deposit records or transfer screenshots from an exchange. However, OKX clearly requires proof of the source of funds itself, not just a picture showing money entering your OKX account. For example, if your money comes from your salary, you should upload a pay slip, not a screenshot of the transfer to OKX. Providing someone else's asset information is also not allowed.

High-risk note: Documents must be clear, complete, uncropped, and unobstructed. All amounts must be clearly visible. Contracts or agreements must have a signed date and an official stamp. Missing any of these elements may lead to rejection.

Step 3: Upload Documents in the App and Submit for Review

Upload the prepared proof documents on the verification page (usually one document is enough). Double-check that all information is correct, then submit. After submission, the page will show "Submitted Successfully," and the system will enter the review stage.

To check the progress, pay attention to notifications in your account message center. An OKX review specialist usually completes the review within 24 hours. If the status shows "Review Failed," follow the instructions to re-submit the correct documents in the app, or contact customer service to ask for the specific reason. Once the review is passed, all account restrictions will be lifted automatically.
