How Beginners Can Start on OKX: Full Process from Registration to First Trade
From registration to completing your first trade, follow these four steps: download the app and register an account, complete identity verification, deposit or buy funds, and start spot trading. Follow the steps below in order, and you can finish within about 15 minutes.

1. Download the App and Register an Account
OKX registration requires both a phone number and an email address—both are mandatory.
Download the App:
Android: Visit the OKX official website, click the download icon, and scan the QR code with your phone's browser to download and install (scanning with WeChat may be blocked).
iPhone: Search for "OKX" in the App Store to download. Note that some countries or regions may not have the app available in their App Store; refer to the official help center for guidance.
Register an Account:
Open the OKX app and tap [Register].
Enter your email address → fill in the email verification code → enter your phone number (select the appropriate country code) → fill in the SMS verification code → set a password, and complete registration.
The invitation code is optional and does not affect the registration process.
2. Complete Identity Verification (KYC)
Without identity verification, your account cannot perform operations such as buying/selling coins, depositing/withdrawing, or transferring funds. Identity verification must be completed within the app.
Open the app, tap the [Profile] icon in the top-left corner of the homepage → tap your nickname/account at the top → [Identity Verification] → [Verify Now].
Upload photos of the front and back of your ID card, complete facial recognition, and follow the prompts to finish verification.
Video verification (if needed to increase limits or for C2C trading): Go to [Buy Crypto] → [C2C Buy] → [My] → [Video Verification] and complete the recording.
Different verification levels correspond to different deposit and withdrawal limits; higher levels allow higher limits.
3. Deposit or Buy Crypto to Get Your First Funds
Your funds must first enter the Funding Account before they can be used for trading. There are two methods:
Method A: Deposit from another platform (if you already have crypto)
Open the app, tap [Assets] at the bottom → [Deposit] → select the coin (e.g., USDT) → choose the network (e.g., TRC20, ERC20) → copy the address.
On the other platform, select "Withdraw" and paste the address to complete the transfer.
Ensure the deposit and withdrawal networks match; otherwise, the coins may be lost.
Method B: Use C2C Quick Buy (if you don't have crypto)
Open the app, tap [Buy Crypto] → [C2C Buy] → [Quick Trade] → [Buy].
Select the coin you want to buy (e.g., USDT), enter the purchase amount, and choose a payment method (bank card/Alipay/WeChat).
After confirming the order, transfer funds as specified by the merchant. Once payment is complete, return to the page and tap [I've Paid], then wait for the merchant to release the coins.
The payment bank card must be in your own name. For large cross-bank transfers outside business hours, consider splitting payments to avoid delays.
4. Fund Transfer and Spot Trading
After successfully buying or depositing, your digital assets will be stored in the [Funding Account]. To trade other coins, you need to transfer funds from the Funding Account to the Trading Account.
Fund Transfer: Tap [Assets] at the bottom → [Transfer] → select the coin → from [Funding Account] to [Trading Account] → enter the amount → confirm.
Start Spot Trading:
Tap [Trade] at the bottom → select [Spot].
In the trading pair list, select the pair you want to trade (e.g., BTC/USDT).
Limit Order: Enter the price and quantity you want to buy/sell, and the order will execute automatically when the market meets your conditions.
Market Order: Enter the amount, and the system will execute immediately at the best current market price, suitable for quick entry or exit.

5. Security Settings (Recommended)
Before trading, it is recommended to set up account security:
Bind 2FA (authenticator app): In [Security Settings] → [Authenticator App], bind Google Authenticator for more secure verification than SMS.
Set a Fund Password: In [Security Settings], set a separate fund password for sensitive operations like withdrawals.
Set an Anti-Phishing Code: In [Security Settings], set a unique anti-phishing code to identify official emails.
What if I don't receive the verification code during registration? Check your spam/junk email or SMS folder; ensure your phone number and email are correct; if you still don't receive it after multiple attempts, try switching network environments and retry later.
How long does KYC verification take? Usually within minutes, up to 24 hours at most. If it times out without approval, check your registered email for any notifications from customer service requesting additional materials.
