OKX ID Upload Failed? Check Image Quality and Document Status

If your OKX ID upload failed, the problem is usually the photo itself or that the ID is already linked to another account. The system rejects blurry, glare-filled, or screenshot images, and does not allow the same identity to register multiple accounts.

Step 1: Check ID Document Status

First, make sure your ID meets the platform's hard requirements.

  • What to do: Check the expiration date and physical condition of your ID.

  • How to do it: Make sure the ID is valid for at least 60 days. Documents with less than 60 days will be rejected by the system. Also check for damage, stains, or fold marks.

  • Goal: The ID is within its validity period and has no physical damage.

Common cause of failure: Many people upload old-type ID cards or temporary ID cards, which may not be supported by OKX. Only standard resident identity cards are accepted.

Step 2: Check If the ID Is Already in Use

One ID can only verify one OKX account. This is the most overlooked reason.

  • What to do: Check if the ID has been used to register another OKX account.

  • How to do it: If the system says "ID already verified" or "duplicate identity verification", it means the ID is already in use. Try to recall any other accounts or contact customer service with your ID number for a check.

  • Goal: Confirm the ID is not in use, or resolve the old account issue.

Risk warning: If you try to bypass the system by using a different phone number after an ID is taken, the platform routinely checks for rule-breaking registrations and may restrict all linked accounts.

Step 3: Retake the ID Photo Correctly

If the document itself is fine, the problem is almost always in how you took the photo.

  • What to do: Take a photo that meets platform standards.

  • How to do it:

    1. Photograph the original: You must take a photo of the original document. No re-photographs, screenshots, scans, or photocopies.

    2. Complete and clear: Make sure all four corners of the ID are captured. All text, the photo, and the issuing authority must be readable.

    3. Avoid glare: Do not shoot in strong light or backlit conditions. The photo should not be overexposed or have reflections.

    4. File size: Keep the image under 10 MB.

  • Goal: The photo is clear, complete, with no glare or obstructions.

Step 4: Upload the Photo Correctly

Fix issues where the app cannot upload.

  • What to do: Complete the photo upload.

  • How to do it: If the app cannot upload, check if you have granted camera permissions or try updating the app to the latest version. If the problem persists, try uploading the front and back photos on the web version and then use WeChat to scan the QR code for the rest of the verification.

  • Goal: Photos uploaded successfully and you are directed to the face recognition step.

How to Check If It Worked

After submitting, check if the identity verification page status changes from "Pending" to "Under Review". Also keep an eye on your registered email, where the system will send a notification of approval or rejection. If rejected, the email will explain the specific reason.

Next Steps

If the photo upload still fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling the OKX app (if you have a Web3 wallet, back up your seed phrase and private key first). If the problem continues, contact live support in the Help Center, providing your ID number and a screenshot of the failure so they can assist.
