How to Transfer Coins from a Hardware Wallet (Ledger) to OKX?
Transferring coins from a Ledger hardware wallet to OKX works the same as sending from any standard wallet: first obtain your OKX deposit address, then initiate the transfer in your Ledger wallet. The key difference is that every transaction requires physical confirmation on the hardware device — this is the core safeguard for your funds.
Prerequisites: 4 Things to Check Before Transferring
Go through each item before you start:
Your OKX account has completed KYC — otherwise deposit features may be restricted.
Your Ledger device is connected and unlocked — and runs the latest Ledger OS.
The correct coin application is installed — for example, sending ETH requires the Ethereum app; sending BTC requires the Bitcoin app.
You have enough gas fees in your wallet — paid in the native token of the corresponding network. For ERC-20 tokens, you need ETH. Taking USDT as an example, keep at least 0.02 ETH on the Ethereum network.
Step 1: Get Your OKX Deposit Address
What you are doing: Generating your unique OKX deposit address.
How to do it:
Open the OKX app or website, go to Assets → Deposit → On-chain Deposit.
Search for the coin you want to deposit (e.g., USDT).
Choose the deposit network — this is the most critical step. For instance, if you are sending USDT from your Ledger ETH wallet, you must select the ERC-20 network.
Copy the deposit address shown on the page. Some coins (like XRP) also require a Tag/Memo — both are mandatory.
How to know you've completed this step: You have copied the deposit address (and Tag/Memo if needed) and noted which network you selected.
⚠️ Networks must match. Choosing the Ethereum network means you can only receive ERC-20 assets; choosing BNB Chain means you can only receive BSC assets. Mismatched networks can result in permanent loss of funds.
Step 2: Initiate the Transfer in Your Ledger Wallet
What you are doing: Sending coins from Ledger to the OKX address obtained in Step 1.
How to do it:
Open Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live), connect and unlock your device.
Click the Send button.
In the "Select asset" screen, choose the coin and select the corresponding network.
Paste the recipient address: Paste the OKX deposit address from Step 1 into the recipient field and double-check it carefully.
Enter the amount: Enter the amount you want to send. For your first transaction, it's strongly recommended to start with a small test amount.
Confirm the gas fee: You can adjust transaction fees (e.g., customize fee rate for BTC), but make sure it meets the network's current minimum requirements.
Click Continue, then verify the transaction details shown on your Ledger device screen — recipient address, amount, and gas fee. Once confirmed, physically approve and sign the transaction on the hardware device.
How to know you've completed this step: Ledger Wallet displays "Transaction broadcast successfully" and a transaction hash (TxID) has been generated.
Step 3: Confirm the Deposit on OKX
What you are doing: Checking whether the deposit has arrived in your OKX account.
How to do it:
On OKX, go to Assets → Deposit History.
A status of "Pending" means the transaction is being processed on-chain. Wait until the required number of blockchain confirmations is reached and the status changes to "Completed".
Confirmation times vary by network — Solana is usually fast, Bitcoin can be slower depending on network congestion.
How to know you've completed this step: Your OKX spot account balance has been updated.
Common Reasons for Failure
Network mismatch — ERC-20 and TRC-20 addresses are not interchangeable. Selecting the wrong chain will result in loss of assets.
Insufficient gas fees — your wallet lacks the native token of the corresponding network (sending ETH requires ETH; sending ERC-20 USDT requires ETH).
Missing coin application on Ledger device — make sure the correct blockchain app is installed on the device before sending.
Forgotten Tag/Memo — for coins that require a destination tag or memo, missing it can prevent the deposit from being credited.
Transaction not approved on the device — Ledger's signing mechanism requires physical confirmation for every transaction. Without it, the transaction will never be broadcast.
Risk Notes
On-chain transactions are irreversible. Once submitted, they cannot be recalled.
Always verify the address and amount on your Ledger device screen. Malware can tamper with the address pasted on your computer, but it cannot alter the recipient address displayed on the hardware device — this is the core protection of a hardware wallet.
Always send a small test amount first. Only transfer larger sums after confirming the address and network are correct.
How to Confirm You Have Completed the Operation Correctly
On OKX, go to Assets → Spot Account and search for the coin you transferred. A balance increase means the process is complete.
If the funds haven't arrived, check Deposit History: "Pending" means keep waiting; "Completed" but the balance hasn't changed — refresh the app.
Once you have the TxID, look it up on the corresponding blockchain explorer. If the transaction is confirmed on-chain but OKX hasn't credited it after 30 minutes, go to the OKX Help Center, submit a request, and attach the TxID and a deposit screenshot.
