Binance drawings disappear after switching devices? Enable chart cloud sync first

If your drawn lines disappear after switching devices, it's usually not because Binance lost your data. It's because chart sync hasn't been enabled. Binance provides two independent toggles: Chart Drawing Sync and Chart Indicator Sync. Once enabled, your drawings and indicator settings are saved to the server, so logging in with the same account on another device restores them. If you never turned on sync before, the local drawings on your old device cannot be "recovered" after the fact. You need to enable sync on the old device first, then switch to the new device.

First check whether you lost "lines" or "indicators"

Binance splits chart sync into two types, each covering different needs:

Sync typeWhat it coversWhen to use
Chart Drawing SyncTrend lines, horizontal lines, Fibonacci retracements, and other manually drawn toolsDrawn lines disappear after switching devices
Chart Indicator SyncParameters, colors, and widths of indicators like moving averages, MACD, and RSIIndicator settings get reset after switching devices

You can enable both modes at the same time, or only the one you need. If only your drawings are gone but indicators remain, just turn on Drawing Sync. If it's the opposite, turn on Indicator Sync.

How to enable on the web platform

After logging in to Binance, go to any trading page (spot, margin, futures, spot grid, or futures grid). Find Settings → Preferences, and in the "Chart Sync" section, check Chart Drawing Sync and/or Chart Indicator Sync.

When you enable Drawing Sync, a popup will offer two options: Overwrite Drawings and Add Drawings. You need to make a choice here:

  • Overwrite Drawings: Replaces the drawings already on the server with the local drawings on your current device. Use this when you're sure the drawings on your current device are the "correct version."
  • Add Drawings: Appends the drawings from your current device to the server, keeping the existing server drawings intact. Use this when you don't want to lose data from either side.

If you're just enabling sync for daily use and don't need to migrate anything, choosing Add Drawings is safer to avoid accidentally overwriting historical drawings on the server. The same logic applies to Indicator Sync: when enabled, it will ask whether you want to overwrite server settings with your local indicators. Choose based on your actual needs.

How to enable on the app

In the Binance app, go to a trading page, select a trading pair, and open the candlestick chart. Find Chart Settings → More, and enable Chart Drawing Sync and/or Chart Indicator Sync. The overwrite/add logic on the app is the same as on the web platform.

The app needs to be updated to a recent version to support these two toggles. If you can't find the sync options under "More," first check whether there's a pending Binance update in your app store.

A few details that are easy to misjudge

Lines drawn in TradingView do not sync. Binance charts have two views: "Original Chart View" and TradingView view. The sync feature only covers drawings and indicators created in the Original Chart View. If you're used to drawing lines in the TradingView interface, those items will not be saved to Binance's servers.

There is a limit on the number of drawings. Each trading pair can sync up to 100 drawings. Beyond that, new drawings may fail to save. Most people won't hit this limit with normal charting, but if you've piled a large number of markings on a single pair, keep this in mind.

Sync saves "settings," not a guarantee of display. If an indicator exists on the web platform but isn't supported on the app, the data will still be saved, but it won't show up on the app. If an indicator disappears after switching devices, first check whether both platforms support that indicator.

Drawings for the same trading pair sync across products. Lines drawn on spot BTC/USDT will sync to the margin and spot grid BTC/USDT charts as well. This is normal behavior, not a bug. If you need completely independent drawings across different products, that can't be achieved with the current sync settings.

What to do if you've already switched devices and the drawings are gone

If the old device still works, go back to it and enable sync following the steps above before disconnecting from the network. This uploads your local drawings to the server. Then log in on the new device, and the drawings should appear.

If the old device is no longer accessible (sold, broken, or data wiped) and sync was never enabled before, the drawings were never saved to Binance's servers and cannot be recovered from Binance's side. Chart sync is not enabled by default—it requires the user to actively opt in. In this case, you'll have to redraw on the new device.

If you still have the old device but aren't sure whether sync was enabled, log in to the web version and check the status of those two toggles under Settings → Preferences. If data exists on the server, the toggles will usually already be on, and logging in on another device will automatically pull the data.

How to know it's working

After switching devices, open the chart for the same trading pair and confirm that your drawings and indicator parameters match what you had before. Then modify a line or change an indicator parameter on the current device, go back to the other device, and refresh—the change should also sync over. Sync is only truly working when you've verified it in both directions. Seeing lines on just one device doesn't prove that sync is functioning.
