Step 1: Get a Deposit Address on OKX

What to do: Generate a unique deposit address on OKX to receive the coins sent from Gate.io.

How to do it:

  1. Open the OKX app or website, and go to AssetsDepositOn-chain Deposit.

  2. Search for the coin you want to deposit (e.g., USDT).

  3. Select the deposit network – this is the most critical step. The page will list the networks supported for that coin (for example, USDT usually has ERC-20, TRC-20, Solana, etc.).

  4. Copy the deposit address displayed. For certain coins (such as XRP, EOS, XLM), you also need to copy the Tag/Memo; without it, the funds cannot be credited.

When you are done: You have copied and saved the deposit address (and Tag/Memo if required), and you have noted down which network you selected.

⚠️ Choosing the right network is crucial. If you select ERC-20, you can only receive USDT on ERC-20; if you select TRC-20, you can only receive TRC-20 USDT. If the networks do not match, the funds are lost on chain and the chance of recovering them is extremely low.

Step 2: Initiate a Withdrawal on Gate.io

What to do: Withdraw the coins from your Gate.io Spot Account to the OKX address you copied in Step 1.

  1. Log in to the Gate.io app or website, and go to AssetsSpotWithdraw.

  2. Search for the coin you want to transfer.

  3. Paste the OKX deposit address you copied in Step 1.

Step 3: Confirm the Deposit on OKX

  1. On OKX, go to AssetsDeposit History.

  2. When the status shows "Confirming", it means the transaction is being processed on chain. Once the number of block confirmations meets OKX's requirement, the status will change to "Completed" and the funds will appear in your Spot Account.

Confirmation times vary by blockchain: BTC typically takes 10–30 minutes, smart chain networks may only take a few minutes, and delays can occur during network congestion.

When you are done: The transferred coins appear in your OKX Spot Account and the balance is updated.

Common Reasons for Failure

  1. Network mismatch – this is the most severe mistake. USDT has ERC-20, TRC-20, BSC, and other versions; choosing the wrong chain means the funds are almost impossible to recover.

  2. Assets not in the Spot Account – Gate.io on-chain withdrawals must be initiated from the Spot Account. If the assets are in another account, transfer them first.

  3. Missing Tag/Memo – For coins like XRP, EOS, XLM, you must fill in both the address and the Tag/Memo, otherwise the deposit cannot be credited.

  4. Amount below the minimum limit – Gate.io sets a minimum withdrawal amount for each coin and network; if the amount is below this threshold, the withdrawal cannot be submitted.

  5. Missing characters in the copied address – After copy-pasting, manually double-check the address, especially the first and last few characters.

Fee explanation: The fee charged when withdrawing from Gate.io is the gas fee paid to the blockchain network. Rates differ by network. The fee is deducted from the withdrawal amount, so the actual amount received will be less than the amount you withdrew.

After you have the TxID, look it up on the relevant blockchain explorer (such as Etherscan or TRONSCAN) to check the transaction status. If the transaction is confirmed on chain but not credited on OKX after more than 30 minutes, go to the OKX Help Center, submit a ticket, and attach the TxID along with a screenshot of the deposit.
