First, the core of DOT deposits is network selection. OKX supports both Polkadot mainnet and Asset Hub network for DOT deposits. Choosing the wrong network may cause funds to not arrive. Before proceeding, go to the OKX deposit page to confirm the currently supported networks, then initiate a transfer from your external wallet on the corresponding network.

1. Preparation: Complete OKX Account KYC

What to do: Ensure your OKX account has completed identity verification.

How to do it:

  1. Log into the OKX App or website, go to [Profile] → [Identity Verification].

  2. Follow the instructions to submit your ID documents and complete standard identity verification. Without completing KYC, you cannot use the deposit function.

Completion criteria: The account shows "Verified" or "Standard Identity Verified" status.

2. Obtain DOT Deposit Address on OKX

What to do: Log into OKX, go to the deposit page, get a DOT deposit address, and confirm supported networks.

How to do it:

  1. Log into OKX App or website, click [Assets] → [Deposit].

  2. Search for "DOT".

  3. OKX currently supports networks including: Polkadot mainnet and Polkadot Asset Hub. In November 2025, OKX completed the migration of DOT network to Asset Hub.

    • The deposit page will display the currently available network options; please refer to the actual page display.

  4. Select the network you want to use and copy the generated deposit address.

    • Polkadot mainnet addresses start with "1"

    • Asset Hub address format may be different

Completion criteria: You have copied the OKX DOT deposit address and confirmed the chosen network name.

Prerequisite: OKX KYC identity verification completed.

After the DOT network migration to Asset Hub, deposit and withdrawal services may be temporarily suspended during the migration. If you cannot deposit now, first check the announcement page to see if it's under maintenance window.

3. Initiate Transfer from External Wallet: Verify Address and Network

What to do: Send DOT from your external wallet (e.g., imToken, TP Wallet, Polkadot.js) to OKX.

How to do it:

  1. Open your external wallet, find the DOT asset, click [Send] or [Transfer].

  2. Paste the DOT address you copied from OKX into the "Receiving Address" field.

  3. Key step: In the "Choose Network" section, you must select the exact same network as shown on the OKX deposit page:

    • If OKX page shows "Polkadot", select "Polkadot" or "DOT mainnet" in the wallet.

    • If OKX page shows "Asset Hub (Polkadot)", select the corresponding network in the wallet.

  4. Ensure there is enough DOT in the wallet to cover gas fees (Polkadot chain gas fees are charged in DOT; keep some DOT in the account for the fee).

  5. Submit the transaction.

Completion criteria: The transaction has been submitted, and the wallet shows "Transaction broadcast" or "Pending confirmation".

Common failure reasons:

  • Wrong network selected: OKX deposit page shows Asset Hub, but the wallet selects Polkadot mainnet — funds may not arrive.

  • Incorrect address format: Polkadot mainnet address starts with "1"; if the address starts with "0x", it means you selected the Ethereum network.

  • Insufficient DOT balance for gas: Sending all DOT leaves no balance for fees, causing the transaction to get stuck. It is recommended to leave at least 1 DOT.

Risk warnings:

  • Service suspension during network migration: From November 3, 2025, 12:00 PM to November 4, 2025, 4:00 PM (UTC+8), OKX suspended DOT deposit and withdrawal services. Depositing during this period will fail; avoid the maintenance window.

  • Address verification mismatch: If you use a MetaMask (Ethereum) wallet to operate on the Asset Hub network, there is an address format conversion issue. MetaMask uses 0x-prefixed 20-byte addresses, while Polkadot natively uses 32-byte SS58 addresses. Transactions initiated via MetaMask on Asset Hub will automatically convert the address to 32-byte format on-chain, but incorrect operation may result in funds going to an unexpected location.

4. Confirm Arrival

What to do: Wait for on-chain confirmations and check your OKX account balance.

How to do it:

  1. Use TxID to check the transaction status on Polkadot.js block explorer. Polkadot network confirmation usually takes 5–15 minutes.

  2. Log into OKX, go to [Assets] → [Funding Account] or [Spot Account], and check if the DOT balance has increased.

  3. If it hasn't arrived after more than 1 hour and the chain shows confirmed, contact OKX customer support with TxID and deposit details.

Completion criteria: DOT balance in the OKX spot account has been updated.

How to confirm you have done it correctly?

Enter the TxID on Polkadot.js explorer and confirm the transaction status is "Success". Then log into OKX and see the DOT balance increase on the [Assets] page. For first-time operations, it is recommended to test with a small amount (e.g., around 1 DOT) first, then transfer the remaining amount after it arrives. If you want to further check deposit status after transferring to OKX, refer to OKX Help Center's deposit FAQ. If the deposit address is correct but not credited for a long time, it is suggested to submit a screenshot of on-chain confirmation and contact OKX customer service for verification.
