OKX supports buying USDT via online bank transfer, but the process differs from direct card payment—you need to obtain the seller's bank account details from a C2C merchant or the quick buy section, then complete the transfer via your own banking app. The entire transaction is secured by the platform's escrow; the seller will release the crypto only after confirming the receipt of funds. Here's the complete step-by-step guide.

Prerequisites: Complete Identity Verification and Link Your Bank Card

To deposit using a bank card, your account must be fully verified (KYC), and the name on the bank card must exactly match your OKX identity information.

  1. Open the OKX app, tap the profile icon in the top-left corner, go to [Identity Verification], upload the front and back of your ID, and complete facial recognition.

  2. After verification, go to [Buy Crypto] > [C2C], tap [My] in the bottom right, then [Payment Account Management] > [Add Payment Account].

  3. Select "Bank Card", enter the account holder name (same as ID), card number, and bank name, then confirm binding.

Completion check: Your identity verification shows "Verified", and you can see the linked bank card in the payment method list.

Step 1: Enter the Buy Page and Select Bank Card Payment

  1. On the app homepage, tap [Buy Crypto] > [C2C].

  2. Choose either "Quick Buy" or "C2C Self-Service" mode:

    • Quick Buy: The system automatically matches merchants who accept bank cards — simpler for beginners.

    • C2C Self-Service: You can filter merchants yourself and compare prices and credibility.

  3. Select USDT as the crypto to buy and CNY as the payment currency.

  4. Enter the amount you want to spend, and under Payment Method, check "Bank Card".

Completion check: The page shows a list of merchants that accept bank card payments.

Step 2: Choose a Merchant and Place an Order

  1. In the merchant list, pay attention to these details:

    • Price: The exchange rate for USDT against CNY; different merchants have slight margins.

    • Trade Limit: The minimum and maximum amount the merchant accepts for a single transaction.

    • Completion/Fulfillment Rate: The higher the better (recommended ≥98%).

    • Average Release Time: How quickly the merchant releases crypto after receiving payment.

  2. Tap [Buy], enter the quantity of USDT, confirm, and place the order.

Completion check: The order is created, and the page displays the seller's bank account details for receiving payment.

Step 3: Use Your Banking App to Complete the Transfer

This is the core step and differs most from Alipay/WeChat payment flows.

  1. Open your mobile banking app (e.g., ICBC, CCB, CMB) and go to the transfer/remittance section.

  2. Enter the seller's payment details: account name, card number, and bank name — the amount must exactly match the order total.

  3. Crucial: Do not write anything in the transfer memo/reference field. Do not include words like "Bitcoin", "USDT", "buy crypto", "OKX", "order number", "please release", etc. Such notes may trigger bank risk controls and block the transfer.

  4. After completing the payment, you must return to the OKX app and tap the [I Have Paid] button. This step is frequently overlooked by newcomers.

For cross-bank transfers over 50,000 RMB made outside banking business hours (weekends and workdays 17:00–08:00), consider splitting the payment to avoid delays. If the payment does not arrive in time, the seller has the right to reject the trade.

Completion check: You have tapped "I Have Paid" in the OKX app, and the order status becomes "Waiting for release".

Step 4: Wait for the Seller to Release the Crypto

  1. Once the seller confirms receipt of the funds, they will click "Release" on the platform.

  2. The USDT will be immediately deposited into your Funding Account.

  3. You can check the balance in [Assets] > [Funding Account].

Arrival time: After the seller confirms payment, the crypto is usually released within a few minutes to one hour. If the seller delays, you can use the order chat to remind them, or tap [Appeal] to involve platform support.

Completion check: You see an increased USDT balance in your Funding Account.

Common Failure Reasons

  • KYC not completed: The fiat trading channel requires full identity verification.

  • Bank card name doesn't match platform ID: Sellers will refuse the order; platform rules explicitly require the payment account name to match your verified identity.

  • Forgot to click "I Have Paid" after transferring: The order will time out and be automatically canceled, potentially affecting your account credibility.

  • Sensitive words in transfer memo: The bank may intercept the payment, causing it to fail.

  • Large single transfer causes cross-bank delay: Consider splitting the payment, especially outside business hours.

If a payment is declined: Reduce the amount per transaction, try a different merchant, or try again later.

Risk Reminder

  • Only complete transactions within the platform: Perform all steps in the OKX app, and never trust anyone asking you to transfer funds privately.

  • Use a bank card under your own name: Non-verified payments may result in trading restrictions or even account freezing.

  • C2C trading charges 0 platform fees, but your bank may charge interbank transfer fees.

Once the funds arrive, the USDT is stored in your "Funding Account". To use USDT to trade other coins, go to [Assets] > [Transfer], move USDT from the Funding Account to the "Trading Account" (instant and free), and then you can place orders in the spot market.
