Does the OKX Deposit Address Change? Can the Same Address Be Used Repeatedly?

You can reuse the same deposit address, but OKX will replace your address under specific circumstances. In March 2025, OKX launched a deposit address update plan for all users. After the update, old addresses can still temporarily receive deposits. Below we explain when the address will change and when you can safely reuse it.

Confirm whether the address you are currently using is valid

Log in to OKX, go to [Assets] → [Deposit], select the coin and network, and check the deposit address displayed on the page.

Scenario A: There is no "address update" prompt on the page → The current address is valid and can be used normally.

Scenario B: The page shows an "address update" banner or notification → The system has generated a new address for you. The official recommendation is to use the new address, but the old address can still temporarily receive deposits without affecting trading.

Completion standard: Confirm that the address displayed on the page is the one you plan to use.

Prerequisite: None. Anyone can log in and view their deposit address.

Determine whether your address is a "long-term reusable" type

OKX assigns each user a fixed deposit address, not a new address for each deposit. Under the same coin and network, the address is stable and can be used repeatedly.

However, the address will be replaced in the following situations:

  1. Platform-initiated update: Starting March 27, 2025, OKX launched a deposit address update plan for all users. The completion time varies per user, and you will receive a notification once completed. After the update, the old address can still be used for a period of time but will eventually become invalid.

  2. Security reasons: If the system detects a security risk associated with the address (e.g., flagged as a high-risk address), the platform may proactively replace it.

Scenario A: Your address has never received an "address update" notification → You can confidently reuse it. Many people have been using the same address for years without issues.

Scenario B: The page shows an "address update" prompt → There will be a buffer period before the old address expires. The official statement says "the old address can still temporarily receive deposits." It is recommended to switch to the new address as soon as possible.

Completion standard: You can confirm that the current page address is "valid" and no replacement notification has been received.

Common reason for failure: Saving a deposit address from years ago and assuming it is permanently valid. After the platform updates the address, the old address will eventually become invalid; the official just provides a transition period.

When you must switch to the new address

If you see an "address update" notification on the deposit page, you should save the new address and replace the old one.

How to proceed:

  1. Copy the new deposit address displayed on the page.

  2. Update your frequently used address book, notes, or exchange withdrawal whitelist.

  3. Use the new address for the next deposit.

When can it be considered complete: The new address has been saved to a commonly used location, and the old address is no longer used.

Risk reminder: The old address usually retains a buffer period after the platform announcement, but it is not recommended to use it right up to the deadline. Once the buffer period ends, depositing to the old address will result in asset loss. OKX has not officially promised to support the old address indefinitely.

How to confirm after completing these steps

Open the OKX deposit page and check that the address you saved matches the address displayed on the page, and that there is no "address update" notification. This means the address you are using is valid and you can continue to deposit. If the page shows a new address, update your records immediately and be sure to use the new address for your next deposit.
