Step 1: Identify Your Wallet's Recovery Mode
Situation A: You created the wallet by tapping "Create Wallet" inside the Binance App. This is an MPC wallet. Your recovery credentials are not a list of words. You need either [Cloud backup (iCloud/Google Drive) + recovery password] or [Backup QR code + recovery password].
Situation B: You chose "Import Wallet" and entered a 12- or 24-word seed phrase. This is a traditional mnemonic wallet. Recovery only requires that seed phrase. You can restore it in any compatible wallet (e.g., MetaMask, Trust Wallet) without relying on your Binance account status.
How to check: Open Binance App → [Web3 Wallet] → tap the wallet management icon in the top-right corner. If you see "Backup Management", you have an MPC wallet. If not, you likely have an imported mnemonic wallet.
Step 2: Recovering an MPC Wallet (Situation A)
MPC recovery requires three things at the same time: a logged-in Binance account, an available backup file (cloud or QR code), and the recovery password you set.
How to do it:
Log in to your Binance account on the new device.
Go to the Web3 Wallet page and tap [Restore Wallet].
Follow the prompts to choose your recovery method:
Cloud recovery: Grant access to iCloud or Google Drive. The system reads the backup file automatically, then enter your recovery password.
QR code recovery: Scan the backup QR code you saved, then enter your recovery password.
Completion: You can access the wallet's main screen with the correct balance and the same addresses as on your old device.
High-risk warning: If you have neither a cloud backup nor a QR code, only your Binance account and password, Binance cannot help you recover this MPC wallet. The private key is split into three shares, and Binance holds only one. That single share is not enough to reconstruct the full key. Even if you contact customer support, the wallet cannot be recovered.
Common reason for failure: Many people forget their recovery password or never recorded it. The recovery password is not your Binance login password; it is set separately when you create the wallet. If the password is lost but you still have the backup file, brute-force recovery is theoretically possible, but extremely difficult in practice—almost impossible to recover.

Step 3: Recovering a Mnemonic Wallet (Situation B)
If your wallet was created by importing a seed phrase, the recovery logic is the same as any traditional hot wallet.
How to do it: In any compatible wallet (Binance Web3, Trust Wallet, MetaMask, etc.), select [Import Wallet] → enter your 12 or 24 seed words → set a new password.
Completion: Your assets and addresses are restored without depending on your Binance account status. Even if your Binance account is locked, you can still access those assets through another wallet.

Risk reminder: If your Binance account is locked due to KYC issues, risk control, or policy violations, you will not be able to access an MPC wallet through the Binance App because the recovery process requires a logged-in account. In that case, if you only have an MPC wallet (no seed phrase), your assets cannot be retrieved. A mnemonic wallet would remain unaffected.
How to verify the recovery: After restoring the wallet, copy the wallet address and check it on the appropriate block explorer (e.g., BscScan). Make sure the assets shown match what you expect. For an MPC wallet, it is also wise to try restoring the wallet on another device to confirm that both the backup file and the recovery password work.
