How to Use Binance Wallet on Desktop? Extension Installation, Connection, and Signing

The Binance Wallet desktop version runs as a browser extension. Its main purpose is to connect to DApps on desktop and complete on-chain signing. It is the same self-custody wallet as the one in the mobile app, but the extension itself cannot create a keyless wallet. You can only log in to an existing keyless wallet by scanning a QR code with your phone, or import a seed phrase/private key wallet.

Installing the Extension

Open the Binance Wallet page in Chrome or Brave, click Add to Chrome, and follow the prompts to complete installation. After installation, make sure the extension is enabled in your browser's extension management page.

Please note: the Binance Wallet extension may not be available in some regions. If you cannot find it in the Chrome Web Store, it means the extension is currently not offered in your region.

Logging In to a Keyless Wallet (Requires Your Phone)

The keyless wallet is the default form of Binance Wallet. It uses MPC technology to store key shares and has no traditional seed phrase. There is only one way to log in to it from the extension: pair it by scanning a QR code with the Binance App.

In the extension, click Set up wallet → Log in to Binance Keyless Wallet, and the extension will show a QR code. Scan this QR code with the Binance App on your phone, check that the pairing code shown on both devices is the same, and then confirm on your phone. If you have multiple keyless wallets in the app, the extension will first ask you to choose which one to add before confirming the login.

Prerequisites: your Binance App must be upgraded to version 2.102.2 or above, and your keyless wallet must already be backed up. If it is not backed up, the extension will not show the pairing code.

Importing a Seed Phrase or Private Key Wallet

If you use a traditional seed phrase wallet or private key wallet, you can import it directly in the extension. In My Wallets → Add Wallet, choose to import a seed phrase or private key and enter the required information. After importing, this wallet and the keyless wallet will appear side by side in the extension's account list, and you can switch between them.

Connecting to DApps and Signing

After installing and logging in to the wallet, the extension will automatically inject connection capability into the browser. Open a DApp's official website and click its Connect Wallet button. The extension will pop up a confirmation window. Check the website address you are connecting to and confirm.

For signing, please note: keyless wallet signing is sometimes completed on the Binance App. According to the official explanation, the following situations will trigger signing on your phone:

The amount being transferred is large;
You are interacting with an unknown or untrusted DApp;
You have not confirmed an extension operation in the app for some time.

This is an intentional security mechanism, not a malfunction. The extension will show a notification prompting you to complete the signing in the app.

If you are using the Binance Wallet web version, there is one extra step: click Connect Wallet Extension in the top right corner of the web version to link the wallet in the extension with the web version. This step only supports seed phrase/private key wallets and does not support keyless wallets. If you want to use a keyless wallet on the web version, simply log in with the corresponding Binance account.

Some Practical Limitations

After connecting the extension, limit orders and strategy orders (take profit/stop loss) are not available on the web version. They can only be operated in the app through a keyless wallet. In addition, unmigrated inner-market tokens in fair mode cannot be purchased through the extension.

The extension login session lasts up to 48 hours, and it will automatically expire after more than 24 hours of inactivity. This is a security design. Simply scan the QR code again to log back in.
