The bottom line: Whether upgrading to Binance VIP is worth it depends on your trading volume structure, not just whether you can meet the thresholds. After two adjustments in March and July 2026, the thresholds for VIP 1–3 were significantly lowered, and OTC and stock trading volumes now count toward total volume at a multiplier. This means with the same capital, you can now reach a higher level than before—but the value of each level has also shifted. As thresholds dropped, the corresponding fee discounts were also tweaked.

Step 1: Check your current VIP level and fees
If you don't know your current level, find out first.
What to do: Log in to the Binance app or website, tap your profile icon in the top right, go to the [VIP] or [Fee] menu. The page will show your current VIP level, 30-day spot/contract trading volume, and BNB balance.
Success criteria: You'll have three numbers: current level, total 30-day trading volume (spot + contract), and BNB balance.
Step 2: Compare the latest thresholds to see how far you are from the next level
The core VIP 1–3 thresholds effective from July 21, 2026 are:
| VIP Level | BNB Holding Requirement | Spot Volume (30d) | Contract Volume (30d) | Wallet Assets |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIP 1 | ≥ 5 BNB | ≥ $1,000,000 | ≥ $5,000,000 | ≥ $100,000 |
| VIP 2 | ≥ 25 BNB | ≥ $5,000,000 | ≥ $10,000,000 | ≥ $200,000 |
| VIP 3 | ≥ 100 BNB | ≥ $20,000,000 | ≥ $50,000,000 | ≥ $3,000,000 |
As long as you meet the BNB holding requirement, you can upgrade to the corresponding level by satisfying any one of the three paths: spot volume, contract volume, or wallet assets.
Important risk: When VIP 1–2 thresholds were lowered in March 2026, their fee rates were raised at the same time. For contract trading, VIP 1 taker fee went from 0.04% to 0.05%, and maker fee from 0.016% to 0.018%. That means even if you move from regular user to VIP 1, your actual fee rate could end up higher than what some regular users paid before with BNB discounts. Upgrading doesn't always save you money—do the math first.

Step 3: Use volume multipliers to reach a higher level faster
Starting from July 2026, two weighted rules can boost your "equivalent trading volume":
OTC spot trading: Counts as 4x toward VIP spot volume, capped at VIP 9.
Stock & bStocks trading: Counts as 3x toward VIP spot volume, capped at VIP 3 (promotion ends September 24, 2026).
Example: If you trade $500,000 worth of OTC spot, your equivalent spot volume becomes $2,000,000. With 5 BNB held, you immediately hit the VIP 1 threshold.
Success criteria: On the [VIP] page, see that the "Equivalent Spot Trading Volume" number has surpassed the target level threshold, and your BNB holdings meet the requirement. The system updates daily at 16:00 (UTC+8). Once you meet the criteria, the new level takes effect the next day.
Common reason for failure: Many people think trading volume alone is enough and forget the hard BNB holding requirement. For example, you have $2,000,000 in spot volume but only 2 BNB. VIP 1 needs 5 BNB, so the system won't upgrade you. Buy enough BNB first, then pursue volume. Doing it the other way around means wasted trading.
How to verify after you're done: After 16:00 on the day your upgrade should take effect, open the [VIP] page to see if your level has changed. Also go to [Wallet] → [Fee Payment Coin] and make sure the "Pay fees with BNB" toggle is on (using BNB to pay fees saves you an extra 10%–25%). If your level didn't change, check the [VIP] page for the "Reason not met" hint—it's usually either BNB or equivalent volume that's missing.
