Want to avoid getting a bad deal when buying USDT? Remember one thing: the cheapest P2P order is often the most expensive choice. Some buyers pick a low-reputation seller just to save a few cents per USDT. They pay, wait two hours for the coins, and during that time the price moves up. In the end, their actual buying power is worse.
Order types for buying USDT
There are two main ways to buy USDT on Binance, and each has different traps.
Method 1: Quick Buy (easiest, but fixed price)
On the app home page, tap "Buy Crypto", enter the amount, and the system gives you a quote. This is good for beginners with small amounts who do not want to compare prices. The downside is you cannot choose the price. The platform gives you its own price. But it is fast and safe because the platform handles the order directly.
Method 2: P2P market (flexible price, but you must choose carefully)
On the "Buy Crypto" page, switch to the P2P market. You will see many sell orders. Each order shows the price, limit, payment method, completion rate, and number of completed orders. The most important step when buying USDT is: do not sort by lowest price. Instead, choose sellers with a completion rate above 98%, more than 1,000 completed orders, and a "Verified Merchant" badge. It is fine to pay a little more than the lowest price. The time cost of being scammed or waiting for delayed release is far higher than those few cents.
Key difference between Quick Buy and P2P
Quick Buy uses a platform-set quote and is good for beginners. P2P means you trade directly with merchants, and merchants set their own prices. Usually, you can find better prices in P2P than Quick Buy, but only if you know how to use the filters.
How to place an order
To place your first USDT buy order safely and quickly: after choosing a seller on the P2P page, enter the amount you want to buy (note the minimum and maximum limits on the page), confirm the payment method (Alipay/WeChat/bank card), and click "Buy". The system will lock the seller's USDT. Then you will see the seller's payment details. Transfer the money to the account provided by the seller. As soon as you finish the transfer, go back to Binance and click "I have paid". Then wait for the seller to release the coins. If everything goes well, the whole process can finish in 5-15 minutes. The page will show "Order complete", and the USDT will appear in your funding account.
Risk warning: After paying, do not send screenshots in the chat to push the seller to release coins, and do not add the seller on WeChat for private chat. Keep all communication and actions inside the Binance app so the platform has a record. There is a real case where a user added the seller on WeChat and paid privately. The seller took the money and did not confirm the order, and the platform could not step in because there were no in-app records.
Common reasons for failure: The most common one is forgetting to click "I have paid" after sending the money. The seller does not get a system notice, and the delayed coin release leaves you stuck on the order page. Another trap is choosing Alipay but paying with a bank card. The receiving side cannot match the account, so the seller cancels the order because "payment account does not match the order information".
