How to Buy a Travel eSIM with Binance Crypto? Installation and Connection Check

You can use USDT and other assets to buy a travel eSIM directly in the Marketplace built into the Binance App. However, the actual payment receiver and delivery are handled by a third-party merchant (such as Yesim). You complete the payment authorization within the Binance environment, and the eSIM QR code or activation information is provided by the merchant. After purchase, installation and connection checks are no different from a regular travel eSIM: install it using Wi-Fi before departure, then after landing turn on data roaming and switch your cellular data to the eSIM line.

Purchase Path in the Binance App

The entry point is in the Binance App's Marketplace, not in the spot or earn sections.

  1. Log in to the Binance App and make sure you are in Pro Mode (if you are currently in Lite Mode, switch from the account center).

  2. Scroll down on the home page and find the Marketplace entry.

  3. In the category list, select Travel or Mobile Services, and find the eSIM-related merchant (for example Yesim, or products marked as "eSIM" in Binance Lifestyle).

  4. Select your destination and data plan, then click Continue with Binance to authorize payment.

  5. During payment, the system will deduct funds from your Spot Wallet according to the payment priority, usually settled in USDT. Funds for Binance Lifestyle orders are first placed in escrow and are only released to the merchant after you confirm receipt of the eSIM; if you do not confirm within 48 hours, they will also be released automatically.

There is a detail that needs to be distinguished here: eSIM merchants in the Marketplace fall into two categories. One type is merchants directly onboarded by Binance Lifestyle, where the transaction is completed within Binance. The other type is Binance Pay partners (Hot Deals), where you will be redirected to the merchant's third-party page to complete the purchase, and Binance only handles the payment channel. Both methods will eventually give you the eSIM installation information, but in the latter case the order status and customer service entry point are on the merchant's side.

Before purchasing, you need to complete KYC identity verification and enable at least one 2FA method (email, Binance Authenticator, or Google Authenticator).

Installation: Complete It with Wi-Fi Before Departure

Installing an eSIM requires a stable network connection to download the configuration profile. Installing it on the plane or after landing without Wi-Fi will be significantly more troublesome.

After you receive the QR code, there are two installation methods:

One-click installation through the Binance App or the merchant's App (if this option is provided): tap the installation link and the system will automatically complete the configuration download.

Manually scan the QR code through your phone settings:

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code, then scan the QR code provided by the merchant.

  • Android (Samsung/Pixel): Settings → Connections → SIM Card Manager → Add eSIM → Scan QR code.

During installation, your phone will prompt you to name the eSIM. It is recommended to give it a clear name, such as "Travel eSIM" or the destination name, so you can easily distinguish it from your primary SIM later.

A key difference: installing an eSIM does not mean activating it. Installation only downloads the configuration profile to your phone. Most eSIMs will only start consuming data and plan days after you manually switch to them after landing. So you can install it a few days in advance without wasting the plan.

Connection Check: Three Steps You Must Do After Landing

After the plane lands, follow this order and you should be able to connect in most cases:

Step 1, turn on the eSIM line. Go to Settings → Cellular, find the travel eSIM you installed, and turn it on.

Step 2, turn on data roaming. In the travel eSIM settings, turn on Data Roaming. This is the most common reason for being unable to access the internet after landing—the signal shows full bars but nothing loads, usually because roaming is not enabled. Note: the roaming switch is independent for each SIM. Turning off roaming on your primary SIM does not affect the roaming status of the travel eSIM.

Step 3, switch cellular data to the travel eSIM. In Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data, select your travel eSIM as the data source. If your phone has an "Allow Cellular Data Switching" option, it is recommended to turn it off to prevent the system from quietly switching back to your primary SIM and incurring roaming charges when the signal fluctuates.

After completing these three steps, you should usually see signal and network connection within a few dozen seconds to two minutes.

If You Cannot Connect, Troubleshoot in This Order

If the eSIM shows as enabled after landing but you cannot access the internet, check in the following order. Most problems can be resolved in the first two steps:

  1. Confirm the data line is selected correctly. Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data, check whether the currently selected line is the travel eSIM rather than your primary SIM.

  2. Confirm data roaming is turned on. Go into the travel eSIM settings and check whether data roaming is enabled.

  3. Toggle airplane mode once. Turn on airplane mode, wait 15 seconds, then turn it off to let the phone re-register with the network.

  4. Manually select a network. Settings → Cellular → Travel eSIM → Network Selection, turn off automatic, wait a few seconds, then choose an operator with a stronger signal from the list.

  5. Restart your phone. A restart can usually resolve temporary network faults.

If none of the above works, do not delete the eSIM. The QR code can usually only be used once. If you delete it, you will need to contact the merchant to reissue a code, and the processing time is uncertain. First use Wi-Fi to contact Binance Marketplace order support or the merchant's support channel, and provide your order information and device model.
