To be honest: do not get excited when you receive a private copy trading invitation code. It is not a reward. It is a ticket for an invite-only program. You need to understand how to use it and what to check before joining.
What is private copy trading — and how is it different from public copy trading?
Public copy trading is open to everyone, and the profit share is fixed at 10%. Private copy trading is controlled by the lead trader, who chooses specific people to follow. The core differences are:
You must use an invitation code or link to enter. It is not public.
The profit share is higher. Lead traders can set it themselves, up to 30% (public is fixed at 10%).
Trading data is not public. Positions, history, and profit/loss are hidden from others, so the lead trader does not have to reveal their trades.
Step 1: Where to enter the invitation code
What to do: Find the private copy trading entry and enter the code.
How to do it (App): Tap [Trade] at the bottom → at the top left, switch [Spot] or [Futures] to [Copy Trading] → in the portfolio list, find a project with a Private tag. Tap it, and you will see a box to enter the invitation code. Enter the code.
How to do it (Web): Same path: [Trade] → [Copy Trading] → select [Spot] tab → find a private project → enter the invitation code.
What success looks like: After the code is accepted, the page will ask you to set the copy amount (minimum 500 USDT; rules may differ by platform). Fill it in and save, and you have joined.
Step 2: Three things you must check before joining
Do not rush just because you received a code. Take three minutes to check the following:
1. What is the profit share? Private copy trading lets the lead trader set the profit share, usually between 10% and 30%. When you enter the setup page, the system will ask you to accept this rate. Read it carefully before confirming. It is settled once a week and deducted directly from your profit.
2. The lead trader's track record Private projects do not show open positions, but you can still see key figures like total return, win rate, and maximum drawdown. Do not only look at returns. Focus on drawdown — can you handle the losses?
3. Copy trading settings — can you accept them? This includes fixed ratio or fixed amount copying, maximum slippage (default 0.3%–0.5%), and total stop-loss. You can adjust these before clicking Follow. Set them first before you enter.
Common failure reasons: code expired or list is full
When creating an invitation code, the lead trader sets a maximum number of followers. Once it is full, you cannot enter. If after entering it says invalid, these two reasons are most likely. Ask the lead trader for a new code, or wait for someone to leave.
Risk warning: profit share is 30% of your profit, not 30% of your total balance
For example, if your copied trades earn 100 USDT in a week, a 30% profit share means 30 USDT is deducted and you keep 70. If you lose money, there is no profit share, but the share already taken from earlier profits is not refunded. Also, private copy trading fees are the same as public: they are charged at your account's VIP fee rate, and you cannot use BNB to offset them. The lead trader also receives 10% of your trading fees as commission.
How to verify you have joined
After saving, go to [Copy Trading] → [My Copy Trading]. If the private project you followed shows a Running status, you have successfully joined. If the profit share and copy amount look correct, you can wait for the system to copy the lead trader's trades automatically.
