When a lead trader uses a trailing stop, the follower account syncs the position closing action but does not copy the specific stop-loss trigger logic or parameters. In other words, you follow the "outcome," not the "conditions."

What the Follower Account Syncs: Closing Operation, Not the Stop Order
The Binance Copy Trading system is designed to "copy trades," not "copy settings." When the lead trader's trailing stop is triggered and generates a closing order, the system immediately creates a corresponding closing order in the same direction for you.
The official rules clearly state: when a lead trader closes a position, it triggers the follower to execute a market order to close the position. Regardless of whether the lead trader closes using a take-profit/stop-loss order or a limit order, the follower account's trigger method is always a market order.
This means: you do not need to set trailing stop parameters yourself; the system automatically executes the closing action. However, the premise is that the lead trader's position was genuinely triggered to close by the trailing stop.
What Does Not Sync: Trigger Logic and Specific Prices
The follower account does not sync the following:
- Specific trailing stop parameters: trigger percentage, retracement amount, activation price, etc.
- Independent stop order: there will not be an active trailing stop order present in your account
- Trigger condition monitoring: the system will not calculate in real time within your account "whether the stop loss should be triggered now"
The determination and execution of the trailing stop happen entirely on the lead trader's side. When the lead trader closes a position due to a trailing stop, your follower account only receives an instruction on "how much of the position to close." The official rules also state that when a lead trader closes a position, the follower account closes proportionally, not by a fixed quantity.
Closing Proportion Rules for Copy Trading
If the lead trader only closes a portion of the position, the follower account closes at the same proportion.
For example: if the lead trader holds 1 BTC and closes 0.2 BTC (i.e., 20%), the system will also close 20% of the position for the follower account. This proportion rule applies to partial closes triggered by a trailing stop.
Prerequisite: You have already followed a lead trader, and that lead trader has set a trailing stop.
Risk warning: When a trailing stop is triggered, the follower account closes with a market order. If market liquidity is insufficient or the market price fluctuates sharply, your execution price may deviate significantly from the lead trader's execution price. The lead trader may gain profit due to lower slippage, while you may incur a loss due to larger slippage.

If You Have Set Your Own Portfolio Stop-Loss
You can independently configure a "Portfolio Stop-Loss" or "Total Stop-Loss" in the copy trading project settings. This stop-loss is controlled only by you and has no connection to the lead trader's trailing stop.
- Portfolio Stop-Loss: When the cumulative loss of your follower account reaches the proportion or amount you have set, the system automatically closes the position and terminates the copying relationship.
- Lead Trader's Trailing Stop: Controlled by the lead trader; when triggered, it closes the position but does not terminate your copying.
These two stop-loss mechanisms are independent and do not affect each other.
After completing the above checks, how can you tell if your follower account is being correctly managed?
Check your copy trading project position list: if the lead trader's position has decreased and your corresponding position in the account has also decreased simultaneously, it indicates that the trailing stop closing instruction has been executed correctly. If the lead trader's position has changed but your account has not, contact Binance support or check whether the copy trading feature is operating normally. If you are unsure whether the lead trader has set a trailing stop, review their historical position records – if "stop loss triggered" records appear frequently, it indicates that they are indeed using this tool.
