How to Apply for a Name Change After Completing Binance Identity Verification
Once identity verification is completed, you cannot directly modify your name in account settings — Binance's KYC information is locked after verification. You must submit an application through the Update Identity Information process and upload documents proving the name change.

Prerequisites
Before initiating the name change process, confirm the following:
You have official documents proving the name change on hand, such as:
Newly issued passport or ID card (showing the new name)
Official name change certificate (e.g., marriage certificate, court order for name change)
Household registration booklet (showing former name and current name)
The reason for your name change falls within the type supported by Binance: the name on your identification document has been changed.
Step 1: Log in and Find the Update Identity Information Entry
Objective: Access Binance's identity verification page and find the name update entry.
Path:
Case A: Using the App
Log in to the Binance App and tap the profile icon in the top left corner of the home screen.
Tap the personal profile area to enter account information.
Tap Verification (or Identity Verification), and find the Update Identity Information option.
Case B: Using the Website
Log in to the Binance website, hover over the profile icon in the top right corner, and click Account.
Enter the Identity Verification page and click Update Identity Information.
Case C: Can't Find the Update Entry
Via Binance App or website online customer service, type "How to update Identity Verification". The customer service bot will automatically reply with a link to reset KYC.
Completion Criteria: Successfully entered the Update Identity Verification page and can see a dropdown menu with selectable update reasons.
Step 2: Select 'Name Has Changed' and Submit Documents
Objective: On the update page, select the correct reason, fill in new information, and upload new documents.
Path:
Select the update reason: In the dropdown menu, choose "Name on identification document has been changed".
Read and agree to the declaration: Tick "I understand and agree to this statement" and click "Confirm Update".
Fill in new information: Enter the name spelling exactly as it appears on your document (including capitalization and spaces).
Upload new documents: Follow the prompts to take and upload photos of the front and back of your new ID document.
Important Reminder: Once you click Confirm Update, your account will immediately be switched to withdrawal-only mode. No trading, depositing, or other operations will be possible until all new information has been submitted and verified.
Completion Criteria: New name information is filled in, new document photos are uploaded successfully, and the page displays a submission success message.
Step 3: Wait for Review and Confirm the Result
Objective: After submission, wait for the Binance review team to process the name change application.
Path:
Once the review is approved, Binance will send a notification email to your registered email address.
After receiving the notification, return to the Identity Verification page to confirm that the name has been updated and the status shows "Verified".
Completion Criteria: Received Binance review approval email, the legal name on the Identity Verification page now shows the new name, and all account functions have returned to normal.
Common Reasons for Rejection
Wrong update reason selected: If you choose "ID document has expired" instead of "Name on ID has been changed", the review will find the reason inconsistent with reality and your application will be rejected.
Unacceptable new document photo: Your name change application requires a photo of the document showing the new name. If the photo is blurry, has glare, or does not show all four corners completely, it will be rejected.
New name entry does not match the document: An extra space or a capitalization error will cause the system to flag a mismatch during the comparison.

Risk Warning
The name change application must be operated by the account holder personally. Binance does not support transferring accounts to others and does not accept using someone else's documents to replace your identity.
Submitting false name change documents or forged IDs may result in Binance permanently freezing your account and reporting to regulatory authorities.
During the review, your account is in withdrawal-only mode. If you need to trade, you must wait until the review is approved.
You can directly log in to your Binance account and go to the Identity Verification page. If you see the Update Identity Information entry, follow the steps above to submit a name change application. If you cannot find the entry, open online customer service and type "How to update Identity Verification" to get the reset link. After submission, pay attention to your email and in-app notifications. The review is usually completed within several working days. During this period, your account is in withdrawal-only mode, and it will return to normal once the review is approved.
