The deposit has arrived, but your account shows a balance yet trading isn't possible. The most likely reason is that funds are misallocated between accounts.

Binance's account system is divided into several modules: Funding Account, Spot Account, and Futures Account. They are like different compartments within the same wallet. Deposits go into the Funding Account by default, while trading depends on the specific type of transaction—spot trading requires funds to be transferred from the Funding Account to the Spot Account, and futures trading requires a transfer to the Futures Account.

Step 1: First, Confirm Which Account Holds Your Balance

[What to do]: Check which account currently holds your deposited USDT.

[How to do it]: Open the Binance App or website, click on [Wallet] or [Asset Overview], and check the USDT balance under the three categories: Funding Account, Spot Account, and Futures Account.

Scenario A: The USDT balance appears in the Funding Account or Overview → This means the funds have been credited but haven't yet been transferred to the trading account. The Funding Account is primarily used for deposits, withdrawals, and P2P trading, and cannot be used directly for spot or futures trading. Action: Proceed to the next step and manually transfer.

Scenario B: The USDT balance appears in the Spot Account, but placing an order still prompts insufficient balance → Check whether there are unfilled pending orders occupying these funds, or whether the order amount exceeds the available balance after price conversion.

Scenario C: USDT is in the Funding Account, but you want to trade spot → A transfer is necessary. Click the transfer icon next to the balance, select transfer from Funding Account to Spot Account, and enter the amount.

[Completion criteria]: You have clearly identified which account currently holds the funds.

Step 2: Transfer Funds to the Corresponding Trading Account

[What to do]: Based on your trading needs, transfer USDT from the current account to the correct target account.

[How to do it]: On the [Wallet] page, click the transfer button and select the transfer source and destination.

Scenario A: For spot trading → Source: Funding Account, Destination: Spot Account.

Scenario B: For USDⓈ-M Futures trading → Source: Funding Account or Spot Account, Destination: USDⓈ-M Futures Account.

Scenario C: For P2P selling or withdrawals → If assets are in the Spot Account, they need to be transferred back to the Funding Account first.

Completion criteria: The corresponding account balance has increased, and the displayed amount matches the transfer quantity.

High Risk Warning

There is a scenario where a balance exists but trading is unavailable because the funds haven't completed settlement after being credited. For example, funds deposited via ACH bank transfer: Binance will first grant you advance credit for trading, but the withdrawal or transfer-out function will be temporarily frozen for 7 days (168 hours). You can use this money to buy crypto, sell crypto, and trade within the platform, but you cannot transfer it out.

Common Reasons for Failure

The most common issue is seeing money in the total assets and assuming you can place orders directly, overlooking the permission separation between the Funding Account and the Spot Account. Additionally, if you received airdropped tokens from Web3 Wallet campaigns, transferring out or trading them may require preparing the corresponding chain's gas fee (e.g., BNB for the BSC chain), otherwise the operation will also fail.

Verification After Completing the Operation

After a successful transfer, refresh the page first, then enter the spot or futures trading interface and confirm under the Available or Margin column that the amount you just transferred is correctly displayed.

If you simply want to buy spot, you can place orders once the funds are transferred to the Spot Account; if you want to sell for fiat, you need to transfer back to the Funding Account first, then proceed to the P2P section. The transfer process is usually instant. If it lags for more than 5 minutes and refreshing still doesn't show the update, contact customer support to check the transfer record. Verification channel: USDT balance changes under [Wallet] - [Spot Account] or [Funding Account].
