Is FET on Binance the Same as ASI? Merger Status and Pre-Purchase Verification

The "FET" you can buy on Binance now belongs to a project called Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI), but the trading ticker is still FET, not ASI. The "ASI" you see in search results is the target name after the merger, while Binance keeps the FET ticker in its spot market until Phase 2 is complete. The conversion ratio is 1 FET = 1 ASI.

How far has the merger progressed

The merger is being carried out in two phases. Phase 1 started on July 1, 2024. The core action was merging SingularityNET's AGIX and Ocean Protocol's OCEAN into FET at fixed ratios:

  • 1 AGIX = 0.433350 FET

  • 1 OCEAN = 0.433226 FET

  • 1 FET = 1 FET (meaning it stays the same)

Any AGIX and OCEAN in your Binance account were automatically converted into FET on July 1, 2024. You did not need to do anything manually. Spot trading pairs for AGIX and OCEAN stopped trading on July 1. On July 5, new trading pairs priced in FET, such as FET/USDT, reopened. Although the official announcement at the time mentioned "ASI/USDT," Binance actually kept the FET ticker, and the trading pair name also remained FET.

Phase 2 is the renaming of FET to ASI and the network upgrade. According to the progress note released by the Alliance in July 2024, the "final step" of Phase 2, updating the trading ticker from FET to ASI, can only be executed after all third parties are aligned, and no date has been set. As of verifiable data from October 2026, the Binance API shows the FETUSDT trading pair status as TRADING, with the base asset still FET. ASIUSDT returns HTTP 400, meaning Binance has not yet opened an ASI trading pair.

What you should look for and buy on Binance now

If you search for "ASI" in the Binance app or website, you will most likely not find a spot trading pair called ASI. You should search for FET instead. The only spot trading pair on Binance is FET/USDT, and the price shown is the FET price.

If you see an article or post claiming that "Binance has listed ASI trading," you need to distinguish between two situations. First, the official announcement in July 2024 did preview an ASI trading pair, but the actual implementation kept the FET ticker. Second, some other exchanges, such as Bitget, did complete the ticker rename, but Binance did not. Binance's official position was made clear in the updated announcement on June 20, 2024: it would continue to list FET trading pairs and related products, and would rename "Fetch.ai" to "Artificial Superintelligence Alliance." In other words, the project brand changed, but the trading ticker did not.

What will happen to the FET you hold

If you hold FET on Binance, you do not need to do anything. Binance will automatically handle the technical aspects of the merger. Your FET balance will still show as FET until Phase 2 is complete. After the rename is finished, 1 FET will become 1 ASI, with no change in quantity.

If you self-custody FET on-chain, the situation depends on which chain your FET is on. If you hold native FET on the Fetch.ai mainnet, the official explanation is that it will be converted automatically during the network upgrade, and you do not need to do anything manually. If you hold ERC-20 FET on Ethereum, you need to convert it manually through the official migration contract. The conversion window will remain open for several years. ERC-20 FET and mainnet FET currently exist as two different forms and are not the same thing. Before taking any action, confirm which type you hold.

Things to check before buying

Check the trading ticker. Before placing an order on Binance, confirm that the order page shows FET/USDT. If a third-party platform asks you to transfer assets to an "ASI dedicated address," or claims you need to pay an "ASI conversion fee," it is a scam. Officials have clearly stated that there are no additional conversion fees beyond standard trading fees.

Check the project identity. The full name of FET is now Artificial Superintelligence Alliance, no longer Fetch.ai. On CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko, the project label for FET has been updated to the ASI Alliance. If you see FET still described as "the Fetch.ai token" on some information site, that information is outdated.

Understand that the "1:1 rename" does not change the value of your holdings. The change from FET to ASI is a ticker rename, not an issuance increase or a reverse split. If you hold 100 FET, you will have 100 ASI after the rename. In theory, the price does not change at the moment of renaming, but the market may fluctuate around the rename due to changing expectations.

Do not buy ASI tokens of unknown origin just because "ASI sounds newer." There is currently no ASI trading pair on Binance. If a token named ASI appears on other chains, confirm that its contract address comes from an official ASI Alliance channel. The Alliance has specifically warned that malicious actors will exploit the "ASI" name for impersonation and phishing during the transition period.
