Binance to Web3 Wallet: Which Address Should You Choose?

When you transfer funds from the exchange to a Web3 wallet, you cannot just copy any address. The most important point is: the address you choose depends on which chain you plan to use for the transfer.

An address is tied to a specific chain. When you withdraw from Binance, the chain you choose (for example BSC, Ethereum, Solana) must match the wallet address for that same chain. If the address and the chain do not match, you will most likely lose your funds.

Step 1: Find the correct chain address in your Web3 wallet

Do not rush back to the exchange yet. Open the Binance App, tap [Wallets] at the bottom, then select [Web3 Wallet] at the top. After entering, tap [Receive] and choose the coin you want to deposit, such as USDT. Here is the key point: the system will ask you to choose a network. The dropdown list will show supported networks such as BSC (BNB Smart Chain), Ethereum (ERC20), Solana, Polygon, and others.

The address shown below is the address for the chain you select. For example, if you choose the BSC network, the address shown is a BSC address starting with 0x. If you choose Solana, the address shown is a completely different string. The same coin usually has different addresses on different chains.

Done when: You clearly know which chain the copied address belongs to. If you are unsure, the page usually shows the network name. Confirm it before you copy.

Step 2: Go back to Binance and choose the same network for withdrawal

After you get the wallet address, go back to Binance [Spot Account][Withdraw], enter the coin you want to transfer, and paste the address you copied from your wallet.

Key action: After you enter the address, the next field will ask you to choose a [Withdrawal Network]. This must match the chain you selected in your wallet. If you selected BSC in your wallet, choose BSC or BEP-20 here. If you selected Ethereum in your wallet, choose ERC-20 here.

This order helps you avoid the most common mistake: many people choose a network on the exchange first and then copy an address, but the address belongs to a different chain, so the two do not match. Choose the chain first, get the address, and then select the same chain on the exchange. This order helps you avoid the worst mistake.

Done when: The "Withdrawal Network" shown on the page matches the network of your wallet address, and the system does not show an "invalid address format" warning.

Step 3: Send a small test amount first, then transfer the rest after it arrives

If this is your first time sending to this address, do not send everything at once. Send a minimum amount first, such as 10 USDT, and wait for it to arrive before sending the rest.

How to do it: Enter a small amount on the withdrawal page, submit it, and wait for on-chain confirmation. Then go to [Web3 Wallet][Assets] and check whether the balance has increased.

Done when: The small amount appears in your wallet and the balance has increased. After confirming it is correct, repeat the same steps to transfer the remaining amount.

Common reason for failure: thinking that the same coin means the same address

Many people think "USDT is USDT, so the address should be the same" — that is wrong. USDT on BSC is in BEP-20 format, while USDT on Ethereum is in ERC-20 format, and the addresses may be completely different. The address matches the chain, not just the coin. To store USDT on BSC, you use the BSC chain address. To store USDT on Ethereum, you use the Ethereum chain address.

How to check after the withdrawal is submitted

After submitting the withdrawal, go to [Withdrawal History] and copy the transaction hash (TxID). Then look it up on the matching block explorer. If the status is "Success" and the number of confirmations is enough, but the wallet still does not show the funds, the wallet may not be synced yet. Try pulling down the asset page manually to refresh it.
