What Verifications Are Needed After Binance Allows Early Unlocking

This design is how Binance balances security between "anti-coercion locking" and "users' urgent unlocking needs." If you do not need early unlocking (the default setting), no verification is required because no one can release the lock.
Step 1: Confirm that you have enabled "Allow early unlocking"
What to do: Make sure your Withdrawal Protection is set to the "Allow early unlocking" mode, not "Strict lock."
How to do it:
Log in to the Binance app or website, and go to [Account Center] → [Security] → [Withdrawal Protection].
Check the status of the "Allow early unlocking" switch:
If it shows as enabled: You have permission to unlock early. Proceed to Step 2.
If it shows as disabled: You originally chose the "Strict lock" mode. In this mode no one can end the lock period early, including you and Binance customer support.
When you're done: You have confirmed that early unlocking is allowed on your account.
Step 2: Have the required verification methods ready
What to do: Before clicking the "Unlock early" button, make sure you have the necessary verification tools at hand.
How to do it: According to Binance's official rules, if you have enabled "Allow early unlocking," you must set up the following two verification methods:
Security Key: Usually a hardware security key (such as a YubiKey) or a device that supports WebAuthn.
Authenticator App: For example, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.
When you're done: You have access to both verification methods.
Step 3: Perform the "Unlock early" operation on the page
What to do: On the Withdrawal Protection page, click the "Unlock early" button and complete the required verifications.
How to do it:
On the [Withdrawal Protection] page, click the [Unlock early] button.
The system will ask you to complete verifications in order:
Required: Verify your Security Key and enter the dynamic code from your Authenticator App.
Optional (if you enabled this extra step): Enter the confirmation code sent to your backup phone number or email address.
When you're done: All verifications are passed and the page shows "Withdrawal Protection has been ended early" or the lock period has been cancelled.
Common reasons for failure
Feature not enabled: If you click "Unlock early" but the system throws an error, the most common cause is that you never turned on the "Allow early unlocking" switch in the first place. By default, the lock period cannot be interrupted.
Verification tools lost or unavailable: Early unlocking of Withdrawal Protection strictly requires both a Security Key and an Authenticator App. If you lost your phone and the Authenticator App is no longer accessible, or your Security Key is not with you, you cannot end the lock period early.
Network or device issues: The verification code timed out or the Security Key could not be recognized, causing the verification process to break. Make sure your network is stable and try again.
Risk reminder
The "Allow early unlocking" switch is determined at the moment you set up Withdrawal Protection; once enabled, you cannot change it during the lock period. If you are worried about being coerced into unlocking early under duress, it is recommended to keep the default "Strict lock" state.
Even when early unlocking is allowed, you can only release the lock via the Security Key + Authenticator App method. Binance customer support has no authority to intervene or override this lock period.

How to confirm you have completed it correctly
After the operation, go back to the [Withdrawal Protection] page and check the status.
If the page shows "Lock period will end at [time]" instead of "Unlocked," it means your operation was not successful and the lock period is still in effect.
If the page no longer displays a countdown, or if it indicates "Withdrawal Protection is off / has been unlocked early," you have successfully ended the lock period ahead of schedule and your account's withdrawal function has returned to normal.
