Profit screenshots in paid signal groups are not trustworthy by default. This does not mean every image is fake, but you have no low-cost way to verify their authenticity before paying. Screenshots can be Photoshopped, can show only winning trades while hiding losing ones, can be generated from demo accounts, or can use flaws in the return rate algorithm on the Binance copy trading page to make a losing position look impressive. What you are paying for is an unverifiable promise.

The cost of faking screenshots is lower than you think
Investigations in the stock and futures markets already provide a clear reference: for a few dozen yuan, you can buy "profit generator" software. Enter the starting capital, position profit and loss, and daily profit-loss ratio, and the interface will generate a professional-looking profit screenshot. The crypto world is no different. Photoshopping a screenshot with a Binance interface takes only a few minutes, and a screenshot of a curve from a demo account can look just as real.
A more subtle method requires no image editing at all. On Binance Square, some users have analyzed how signal bloggers exploit flaws in the copy trading return rate algorithm: by continuously adding margin to a losing position, the loss does not show as a liquidation. Eventually, a single floating profit pushes the return rate curve above 150%. They then use this "real but distorted" curve to attract followers, collect profit sharing, and later let the position get liquidated. Every screenshot in this process is real, but the risk behind the screenshots is completely hidden.
There is also a simpler filtering method: only post winning trades. Out of ten trades, nine win and one loses. Post nine winning screenshots and never mention the losing one. The screenshots themselves are not fake, but the information is incomplete.
The structure of paid groups means the "teacher" and you have different interests
The group fee you pay is the "teacher's" guaranteed income. Your profit or loss is not. When a person makes money by selling subscriptions rather than trading, their core incentive is to make you think they are skilled and to keep you paying, not to actually make you money. An analysis on Binance Square put it bluntly: people with real trading ability do not have much time to teach you. Traders watch the charts all day. Those who harvest through group fees do not make a living from trading in the first place.
Paid groups also often have a common structure: not all members are real people. Some users have described entering a group and finding that most "members" are shills, with only a few real victims. Winning screenshots flood the group, and people echo "I followed the teacher and made money." All of this can be staged. What you see is a designed information environment, not a group of real users independently sharing results.
A worse path leads to shady exchanges. There are cases where the "teacher" first lets you make small profits on Binance to build trust, then uses excuses like "Binance has wicks" or "the entry points are bad here" to get you to move your assets to some small platform. After that, they give a series of signals that liquidate your account, or the platform itself does not allow withdrawals. Your losses are shared between the signal provider and the platform. This is called "customer loss." At this point, the question is no longer whether screenshots are real, but whether you can get your principal back.
Binance copy trading and paid signal groups are not the same thing
If you really want to reference other people's trading, Binance itself has a futures copy trading feature. The lead trader's historical operations, profit and loss curve, and leverage usage are public on the copy trading page. The official FAQ clearly states that copy trading does not guarantee profits and carries significant risk. This at least provides a verifiable reference: you can see how a lead trader actually performs during losses, rather than only seeing the screenshots they want you to see.
But this does not mean copy trading is safe either. The same FAQ points out that lead traders can use API trading, and some copy trading pages label traders with a "High Leverage" tag (maximum leverage of 20x or more in the past 7 days). A lead trader who survives long-term on a live copy trading page with controlled drawdowns is on a completely different level of credibility than someone in a WeChat group posting screenshots and charging annual fees. The former at least leaves a complete record on the platform, while the latter gives you carefully selected slices.
If you are already in a paid group, what should you look at now
Check whether the other party is willing to provide a verifiable live trading link before payment. A Binance copy trading page or any traceable public trading record is more useful than a hundred screenshots. If the other party says "I don't do copy trading," "screenshots are proof," or only wants to send images in private chat, that is your answer.
Look at the group fee amount and the sales pitch. Quarterly fees of 300 USDT, annual fees of 800 USDT, "limited-time offer 888 USDT for lifetime access" — these pricing models have been directly called out in scam analyses on Binance Square. A person who truly profits from trading earns income from the market, not from your subscription fees.
Watch for any suggestion to "switch platforms." Any "teacher" who soon after taking your money suggests moving your assets from Binance to another platform you have never heard of does not need a second sentence. This is a standard move in customer loss scams.
If you have not paid yet, the simplest judgment is: if you cannot independently verify the authenticity of screenshots before paying, you should not pay for screenshots. If you want to see other people's trading records, go to the Binance copy trading page and look at the public ones. If you want to learn trading, use money you can afford to lose and trade yourself. Paid signal groups do not solve your information gap; they solve the other party's income problem.
