Why Binance Requires Token Account Confirmation for Solana Deposits

Solana's account model differs from Ethereum. A single wallet address on Solana can receive any SPL token, but each new token type requires a separate "Associated Token Account" (ATA) to hold it. Binance asks you to confirm the token account precisely to help you create that account; otherwise, the deposit cannot be credited. This is not an extra hurdle added by Binance – it is a requirement of Solana's underlying mechanism.

1. Understanding Why This "Confirmation" Step Is Needed

Once you grasp the technical logic behind depositing SPL tokens on Solana, you'll know exactly what to do.

SPL tokens on Solana (including SOL itself) are not stored directly in your main address. Each token corresponds to an independent "Associated Token Account" (ATA), and each ATA holds the balance of only one token.

When you deposit a Solana-network token to Binance, Binance needs to know which ATA to place the funds into. If you have never received that token at the address before, the ATA does not exist yet, and Binance must first create it on-chain before the deposit can be credited.

Understand that the "Confirm Token Account" step on the deposit page is a necessary operation required by the Solana network, not an optional choice.

A simple analogy: an Ethereum address can hold all types of tokens (ERC-20), whereas Solana is more like an address with multiple "drawers," each drawer capable of holding only one type of token. To deposit a new token, you must first create the corresponding drawer.

2. Check Binance Deposit Page Prompts Before Initiating the Deposit

Before making a deposit, carefully read all prompts about the token account on the Binance deposit page.

  1. Log in to Binance, go to [Deposit] → [Deposit Crypto], and search for the Solana-network token you wish to deposit (e.g., USDT-SPL, SOL itself, or FDUSD).

  2. Select [Solana (SPL)] as the network.

  3. Check if the page displays prompts such as "Confirm Token Account" or "First deposit of this token requires confirmation." If so, follow the page guidance and click the confirmation button (usually near or below the address copy area).

Make sure there are no unprocessed prompts or red warnings on the page, and that you have successfully copied the deposit address.

Binance supports an increasing number of tokens on the Solana network, including USDT, FDUSD, WCT, and others. The ATA creation process may be triggered the first time you deposit each new token.

3. First Deposit of an SPL Token: Confirm ATA Creation

If you are depositing a particular Solana-network token to that Binance deposit address for the first time, Binance will prompt you to confirm the creation of the ATA first. This action usually does not require extra payment from you; Binance will handle it in the background.

  1. Follow the instructions on the Binance deposit page – it may involve clicking a "Confirm" or "Create" button.

  2. Binance will use your deposit address to initiate an on-chain transaction to create the ATA, consuming a small amount of SOL as gas fees (borne by Binance or deducted from the deposit amount, as shown on the actual page).

  3. Once the creation is complete, the deposit address can receive that token normally.

The process is finished when the page shows "Token account confirmed" or indicates "Ready for deposit."

Common failure reasons:

  • Not adding the token's Mint address in the wallet beforehand: When transferring from an external wallet, some wallets require you to add the SPL token's contract address (Mint address) in advance; otherwise, the token cannot be recognized.

  • Insufficient gas fees: Creating an ATA requires a small amount of SOL as a transaction fee. If Binance does not cover this cost and your wallet address has no SOL balance, the creation may fail. However, Binance usually handles this automatically during the first deposit.

4. Verify ATA Status On-Chain After the Deposit Arrives

If the deposit is completed, you can check on-chain whether the ATA has been successfully created.

  1. Copy the Binance deposit address you used (Solana address, 43–44 characters).

  2. Open a Solana block explorer (such as Solscan or Solana Explorer) and paste the address to search.

  3. Check the "Token Accounts" list under that address and confirm that the ATA balance for your deposited token has been updated.

You are all set when the block explorer shows that the address holds the token you deposited and the balance is correct.

How to confirm you have completed the operation correctly?

After completing the "Token Account Confirmation" on the Binance deposit page, you can normally initiate the transfer within a few minutes. Search your Binance deposit address in a block explorer and verify that the corresponding SPL token's ATA account already exists under that address (even with a zero balance), meaning the creation was successful. Once the deposit is credited, your Binance spot wallet balance will be updated as final confirmation. Binance has previously suspended Solana deposits due to wallet maintenance (maintenance typically takes about 1 hour). If your deposit does not arrive for a long time, check the Binance announcement page to see if there is any relevant network maintenance notice.
