Binance Affiliate vs. Standard Referral: How to Choose? Attribution and Settlement

Binance's "Affiliate" and "Standard Referral" programs are two parallel but nested mechanisms for attribution and settlement. The Standard Referral is the base layer, while the Affiliate program adds a profit-sharing layer on top of the referral relationship. Which one you choose depends on whether you just want to "share a link and earn commission" or "build a promotion team and distribute earnings across levels."

Attribution: Who is linked to whom, and when

Standard Referral attribution happens at the moment of registration. When a new user registers through your referral link or code, the binding relationship is established. Once a Binance referral relationship is set, it usually cannot be changed. If a user already has a Binance account but has never been bound to any referrer, and meets certain conditions (account age over 90 days and no trades in the past 90 days), they can be re-bound through the Recall Program. After March 2026, this condition was relaxed from 180 days to 90 days.

Affiliate promotion does not directly "bind users" but instead binds a Co-Inviter. An Affiliate creates a Co-Inviter link in the Referral Pro dashboard, enters the partner's Binance account ID, and sets the profit-sharing ratio. After the partner accepts, the Co-Inviter uses this exclusive link to invite users. The users are ultimately bound to the Affiliate's referral relationship, but the commission is split between the Affiliate and the Co-Inviter according to the agreed ratio.

One key limitation: Only Affiliates whose current Spot or Futures commission rate reaches 30% or above can create Co-Inviter links. Regular users (with a commission rate below 30%) cannot use this tiered feature.

Settlement: How commission is calculated and when it arrives

The source of commission is the same: the referrer (or Affiliate) receives a portion of the trading fees generated by the referred user. Rewards are paid in the same cryptocurrency used by the referred user to pay fees — if they pay fees in BNB, you receive BNB.

Settlement time is T+1. Reward data is updated daily at 00:00 (UTC), and the settlement and update process usually completes within 6 to 8 hours. Rewards can be claimed manually at any time, with no minimum withdrawal threshold and no expiration.

Commission rates are dynamic, determined by 30-day rolling trading volume. Taking the Binance Wallet referral program as an example, commission rates range from 30% to 80% in tiers: when the referred user's 30-day cumulative trading volume is between 0–99,999 USD, the referrer receives 30%; when it reaches 2,500,000 USD or more, they receive 80%.

The Affiliate Referral Pro model has a different evaluation system. Futures and Spot are evaluated separately, with automated assessments every 3 months, and the commission rate cap is 50%, not 80%. Tier 1 (30%) and above are automatically upgraded to Affiliate, enjoying additional benefits such as a dedicated account manager. Upgrades are evaluated daily, but downgrades only occur during quarterly assessments.

Hard limits on profit sharing

There are clear numerical limits on how much an Affiliate can share with a Co-Inviter:

  • The maximum commission rate for a Co-Inviter is 40%
  • The maximum rebate rate for a referred user is 20%
  • The combined total for Co-Inviter and referred user cannot exceed 45%
  • The total shared with the Co-Inviter and referred user cannot exceed the Affiliate's own current commission rate

These ratios cannot be modified once the link is created. Neither the Affiliate nor the Co-Inviter can change them. To change the ratio, you must create a new link.

How to choose: Do you want to "promote yourself" or "organize a team"?

If you share links yourself and directly invite users, Standard Referral (or the personal referral mode of Referral Pro) is sufficient. You directly receive the commission generated by referred users, with clear attribution and T+1 settlement.

If you have a team, or want to collaborate and share profits with KOLs/communities, the Affiliate Co-Inviter feature is designed for you. You can share a portion of your commission with partners, letting them use exclusive links to promote while you keep the remainder. But the prerequisite is that your commission rate must reach 30% or above, otherwise you do not even have the qualification to create a Co-Inviter link.

A practical judgment: If your current Referral Pro commission rate has not yet reached 30%, focus on improving your own referral performance first. Once you cross the 30% threshold and automatically become an Affiliate, then consider using the Co-Inviter model to scale up. Below that threshold, trying to "build a team" gives you no tool to share profits.
