Binance Academy's free courses do let you earn a PDF certificate, but the certificate says "Binance Academy proof of completion," not a qualification recognized by any regulator or education authority. They carry more weight than the free certificates, but you first need access to Binance Pay, and users in places like the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Singapore are excluded.

Course categories: What is the difference between free and paid?
Binance Academy courses are divided into three tiers, and the certificate type is different for each.
Beginner Track has 6 fixed courses, all free. After completing them, you can claim an NFT certificate, but the NFT certificate is non-transferable and non-tradeable, and it is not available in some regions.
Intermediate Track also has 6 fixed courses, all free. Complete any one of them and you can get a PDF certificate. Some users have reported that the intermediate course "An In-Depth Look at Blockchain" includes 11 lessons and 11 interactive quizzes, and the certificate shows your name after completion.
Specialization Track contains various specialized courses, all free. You need to complete all specialization courses to get the PDF certificate, not just one.
University Courses are designed and certified by well-known educational institutions and cost 10 USDC each. Complete one paid university course and you will receive a PDF certificate. You do not need to finish the whole series. The certificate will show the name of the partner institution.
What is the certificate actually useful for?
This is the key to deciding whether it is worth getting.
The PDF certificate is a proof of completion. It proves you finished a course on Binance Academy. It does not give you any professional qualification, academic credit, or regulatory recognition. Words like "accredited," "degree," or "professional qualification" will not appear on the certificate. One user posted on Binance Square that the certificate "can be added to your LinkedIn profile for potential crypto-related jobs." That is a reasonable use, but its role is to show willingness to learn and basic knowledge, not to replace formal education or industry certification.
The NFT certificate is even less practical. The official explanation clearly states that it is non-transferable and non-tradeable, and it cannot be obtained in some regions. If you are not in an eligible region or have no interest in NFT collecting, this certificate has almost no real use.
Paid course certificates are somewhat more valuable because the partners are real universities such as VŠE, and the courses are certified by the university. But "certified" means the course content has been reviewed by the university. It does not mean you earn university credit or a degree from that institution. Some users mentioned that after completing Academy courses, they also received a certificate issued by the EBU (European Broadcasting Union). The specific scope and recognition of this EBU certificate are not explained in detail in official materials, so you need to verify it yourself.
The real barriers to paid courses
If you plan to buy a paid course, check these three things first.
Can you use Binance Pay? Paid courses can only be purchased through Binance Pay. The countries and regions officially listed as unable to use Binance Pay and therefore unable to access paid courses include: Australia, Canada, Crimea, Cuba, the United Kingdom, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, North Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, Syria, Thailand, Ukraine (Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia), the United States, and Vietnam. If you are in one of these places, paid courses are simply not an option.
The refund window is very short. EU users can request a refund within 14 days of purchase. Users outside the EU only have 7 days. Once you complete the course or receive the certificate, refunds are no longer accepted. So if you are not sure whether a course is right for you, quickly browse the content after purchase and confirm it is valuable before continuing.
The cost is 10 USDC. At current prices, one course costs less than 10 US dollars. If you are just curious about what a university-certified course looks like, the cost is not high. But if you expect the certificate to directly bring job opportunities or income, you should lower your expectations.
How to choose: Decide based on your goal
If you are a beginner and want a systematic introduction to crypto knowledge. Start with the Beginner Track. All 6 courses are free, and you get an NFT certificate after completing them. The goal at this stage is to build basic understanding. The certificate itself is not important; the learning process has value.
If you want a PDF certificate that can go on your resume. Complete any one Intermediate Track course. Intermediate courses are also free. You do not need to pay. Choose the one most relevant to your current needs, such as blockchain fundamentals or trading strategies. After completion, the PDF certificate will show your name.
If you have a specific need in a professional direction. Check whether the Specialization Track has the module you need. Note that you must complete all specialization courses to get the PDF certificate. If you are only interested in one or two of them, the value of getting the certificate drops.
If you have a clear interest in university-certified course content and can use Binance Pay. Paid courses are worth considering. But first confirm the refund window and decide within 7 or 14 days whether to continue. Do not skip this step just because "10 USDC is not expensive."
If you are in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, or similar places. Paid courses are not available to you. Focus on the free courses. Completing one Intermediate Track course is enough to get a PDF certificate, with no extra payment needed.
