To register for OKX using a phone number, you need to have three things ready: a mobile number registered under your own name, an email address that can receive emails normally, and the ID document you'll use for identity verification later. OKX requires both a phone number and an email to be bound during registration—neither can be omitted. Registrants must be at least 18 years old; otherwise, verification cannot be completed.

1. Prepare a Mobile Number Under Your Own Name

What to do: Get a mobile number ready that is registered under your real name and can receive SMS verification codes.

How to do it:

  • The mobile number must be registered under your own name, or you won't be able to complete identity verification later.
  • Make sure the number can receive SMS verification codes (the system will send a code to the phone you provide during registration).
  • Each phone number can only be used to register one OKX account—reuse is not allowed.

When it's ready: Confirm that the phone number can receive texts normally and is indeed under your name.

Note: If the phone number is not in your name, the identity verification will be rejected, and you won't be able to bind your real-name information later—wasting your effort.

2. Prepare a Working Email Address

What to do: Have an email address that can send and receive emails without issue.

How to do it:

  • The email is used for receiving verification codes, system notifications, password recovery, etc. You must be able to log in to it normally.
  • Major email providers like QQ Mail, 163 Mail, Gmail, and Outlook are supported.

When it's ready: Confirm that you can log in to the email and receive messages.

3. Prepare Your ID Document

What to do: After registration, you need to complete KYC identity verification to use trading features, so get your documents ready in advance.

How to do it:

  • Users from mainland China typically use their ID card; users from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, or overseas can use a passport or local valid residency permit.
  • The system will prompt you to complete identity verification after registration. You'll need to upload a photo of your ID and perform a facial recognition check (nodding, blinking, etc.).
  • Verification usually takes from 1 minute to a few hours; advanced verification may take 1–3 working days.

When it's ready: The ID photo is taken clearly (no glare, no obstructions), and your phone's camera is functional.

KYC is done after registration, but it's best to have materials prepared ahead of time. Otherwise, you won't be able to trade even after signing up—unverified accounts cannot buy/sell crypto, deposit, withdraw, borrow, etc.

4. Download the Official App or Visit the Official Website

What to do: Find the official channel to avoid phishing sites.

How to do it:

  • Official website: Visit okx.com directly without using third-party links.
  • App: iOS users can search for "OKX" in the App Store; Android users can scan the QR code on the official website to download (it's recommended to scan with a mobile browser).

When it's ready: You've opened the official OKX registration page or the app's sign-up screen.

How to know you're fully prepared?

Your phone is with you and can receive texts, your email is accessible and can receive messages, your ID is ready to be photographed and uploaded, and your device has the official OKX app installed or can access the official website. Once you have all four ready, you can start registering.

During registration you can optionally enter a referral code; it doesn't affect the registration process. If entered, you'll receive corresponding benefits according to platform rules. After registration, the system will require you to bind both your phone number and email—just follow the on-screen instructions and enter the verification codes.
