What to Do If Your Phone Number Is Already in Use During OKX Registration?
If you see the prompt 'Phone number already in use' during registration, it means this number is already linked to anOKXaccount and cannot be used to register a new one.This message is not a system error; it indicates the system has detected an existing binding. The solution depends on whether the account belongs to you and whether you can still access it.

Scenario 1: The phone number is yours, but you forgot you registered before
This is the most common case. You may have registered and forgotten, or registered but never used the account. Instead of re-registering, simply recover the account:
Try logging in directly: Use the phone number as the account and enter a password you commonly use. If the password is incorrect or forgotten, click 'Forgot Password' on the login page to reset it via SMS verification code.
Access the account after reset: After logging in, check if there are any assets in the account. If it's an empty account and you don't plan to use it, you can choose to close it.
Scenario 2: The phone number is yours, but you want to move it to your main account
If you have two OKX accounts (e.g., one logged in with email as the main account, and another with a phone number that you no longer use), you can use the 'Account Merge (Migration)' feature to transfer the phone number to your main account.
Prerequisite: The account with the phone number to be migratedmust not have completed identity verification (KYC). Accounts that have been verified cannot be migrated.
Steps (App):
Log in to yourmain account(the one you want to keep).
Go to 'Security Settings' → 'Phone Number' → 'Bind Phone Number'.
Enter the phone number that is already in use, and follow the prompts to complete verification codes for the old and new numbers, as well as Google Authenticator verification.
The system will prompt 'Migrate Phone Number'. Confirm and follow the instructions.
Check the box to acknowledge the account closure terms, and click to close the migrated account, completing the merge.
