The offline mode of the OKX wallet is often called "cold wallet" or "watch wallet" mode. Its core idea is keeping private keys offline and only viewing balances. In essence, it creates a physical isolation barrier. Once enabled, your transaction signing happens on a device that is not connected to the internet. This makes it impossible for cybercriminals to steal your private keys through network attacks, greatly improving asset security.

How Does Offline Mode Protect Your Account?
Its security mechanism mainly works in two ways:
- Blocking network attacks: Because private keys are stored on a device that is not connected to the internet, hackers cannot steal them through phishing, malware, or remote access. This is the most important protection.
- Avoiding authorization risks: After enabling offline mode, the wallet becomes "read-only". Even if you accidentally click on a malicious DApp authorization, the theft contract cannot take effect because there is no private key to sign with.

How to Enable Offline Mode (Where Is the Entry)
Prepare a device that is not connected to any network, such as an old phone or a hardware wallet. The usual steps are as follows:
- On the internet-connected device (hot wallet side): Open the OKX wallet app, go to "Manage Wallet" or "Security Settings", and choose "Create Watch Wallet" or "Cold Wallet". The system will generate a QR code or an address code for importing the watch address.
- On the offline device (cold side): Open the OKX wallet on a phone that is not connected to the internet, and choose "Import Wallet". Make sure to select "Offline Mode" or "Cold Wallet", then scan the QR code on the internet-connected device. This step can be understood as importing the public key into the offline device so it can construct transactions.
- Construct and broadcast: The offline device uses the public key to construct a transfer transaction and generates a signature QR code. The internet-connected device scans the code and broadcasts the signature to the blockchain. It is usually recommended to interact through QR code scanning to avoid physical contact, while also being aware of near-field attack risks from physical contact.
Risk reminder: Offline mode does not prevent "human errors". If the mnemonic phrase or private key itself is leaked, offline mode becomes useless. The key to security is that the mnemonic phrase never touches the internet. It is recommended to use a hardware wallet or physical media backup, write down the mnemonic phrase, and store copies separately. Do not store it on a phone or computer.
