Whether OKX Money is worth registering depends on whether you hold USDG and whether you are in a supported region. At its core, it is a "balance is the account" product: you deposit USDG, your money earns yield automatically, and you can spend it directly through a linked virtual card or QR code. There is no lock-up period, and you can spend, transfer, or withdraw at any time. That is the biggest difference between OKX Money and a typical savings product.

How Yield Works: Balance and Tier Matter
OKX Money's balance rewards do not need to be turned on manually. As long as you hold USDG, rewards accumulate automatically. The rate is not fixed. It depends on two variables: your balance size and your loyalty tier.
The basic rule is "higher yield on smaller balances, lower yield on larger ones": the first 10,000 US dollars earns a higher rate, and anything above that earns the standard rate. Third-party data has shown OKX's stablecoin flexible yield ranging from 2.18% to 2.60% after a 15% fee is deducted, but that is only a snapshot from a specific page at a specific time. The actual rate shown in the app is what counts.
Your loyalty tier determines how much you get. OKX Money has five tiers: Classic, Plus, Premium, Signature, and Infinite. The higher the tier, the higher the yield. There are three upgrade paths, and the highest one applies:
Deposited assets based on a 30-day average: 40,000 US dollars for Plus, 80,000 US dollars for Premium, 320,000 US dollars for Signature, and 500,000 US dollars for Infinite.
Spending amount over a rolling 30-day period: 10,000 US dollars for Plus, 20,000 US dollars for Premium, 75,000 US dollars for Signature, and 100,000 US dollars for Infinite.
Exchange VIP level: if you are already VIP1 to VIP4+ on the OKX exchange, your level will be automatically mapped to the corresponding Money tier. No extra action is needed.
Tiers are evaluated once per day. Upgrades take effect the next day, and downgrades are gradual because they use a rolling 30-day window.
Spending: Virtual Card and QR Code Payments
OKX Money's spending ability comes through the OKX payment card. It is a virtual debit card running on Visa or Mastercard depending on your region, and it connects directly to your OKX Pay account balance. There is no physical card. It only exists inside the app and supports Apple Pay and Google Pay for contactless payments.
Where you can spend: any merchant that accepts Visa or Mastercard, including physical stores, hotels, restaurants, flight bookings, and international websites. OKX emphasizes that you can "spend your US dollar balance directly with no extra markup," and smart top-ups are not treated as traditional fiat currency exchange.
Where you cannot spend: the OKX card has a clear list of prohibited categories. Attempted payments in these categories will be automatically declined. They mainly include remittances and transfers, cash withdrawals, financial institution services, quasi-cash transactions such as stored-value cards and vouchers, digital asset exchange, meaning buying or trading on exchange platforms, securities, forex and investment services, payment service provider top-ups, tax filing services, and bail bonds.
One key limitation: you cannot withdraw cash from an ATM. If you need physical cash, this card will not help.
Eligibility Check: Are You in a Supported Region?
Availability of OKX Money and the payment card varies by region. The easiest way to check is to log in to the OKX app and look for a Money or Pay entry in the bottom navigation bar or the "More" menu. If there is no entry, your region is not supported yet.
Users in the United States need to pay special attention: OKX's centralized exchange services, except OKX US, are not available to US users, and US users are explicitly prohibited from accessing products offered by foreign entities. Hong Kong also stopped related services after May 2024.
Cost of Exits and Transfers
OKX Money has two main exit paths:
Transfer to another OKX Money user: instant and completely free.
Withdraw to an external address: you only pay the network fee or gas fee. OKX does not charge anything extra. The exact amount depends on how busy the network is at that moment, and it will be shown before you confirm.
Once a withdrawal to an external address is made, the transaction cannot be reversed. If you enter the wrong address, you need to contact the receiving platform's customer support immediately and provide the transaction ID. OKX cannot recover the funds for you.
Who Should Use It and Who Should Not
Good fit: people who hold USDG and want it to earn yield automatically without locking it up, while also being able to use it directly for daily spending. The barrier to entry is low. There is no separate subscription or redemption process. Your balance is everything. If you are already a VIP on the OKX exchange, your tier will be mapped automatically, giving you higher yield.
Not a good fit: users outside supported regions who do not see the entry in the app, users who need ATM cash withdrawals, users who mainly want to send money out or transfer funds because those categories are blocked by the payment card, and US users who cannot access OKX global services.
If you do not have USDG yet, you need to get it through OKX by converting or depositing funds. Your OKX Money balance is always stored on X Layer. No matter which network you deposit from, you do not need to move assets around to become eligible for yield.
