OKX USDG rewards are calculated by taking the lowest balance during the daily snapshot period, multiplying it by the APR, and dividing by 365. It is not based on your balance at any single point in time during the day. This means temporarily transferring a large amount of USDG into your account during the day will not increase your reward base for that day. The place where mistakes are most likely to happen is the trading account, which has special rules for the interest-bearing amount: starting from September 22, 2026, the trading account's interest-bearing amount is the smaller of "coin balance" and "coin equity," which is different from the simple snapshot logic used for the funding account.

How rewards are calculated: lowest balance, not average
OKX's USDG rewards use a lowest-balance snapshot mechanism. During the daily snapshot period, the system records the lowest USDG balance in your account and uses that lowest value as the interest-bearing base for the day.
The calculation formula can be broken down into two steps:
Step one, determine the daily interest-bearing amount. For funding accounts and flexible loan accounts, this is simply the lowest snapshot balance of the day. For trading accounts, the calculation is different: it takes the smaller of "coin balance" and "coin equity." If you have USDG in your trading account, but some of it is tied up in open orders or locked as margin, your "coin equity" may be lower than your "coin balance," and the system will use the lower figure.
Step two, calculate the daily reward. Daily reward = daily interest-bearing amount × applicable annual percentage rate (APR) ÷ 365.
The lowest-balance logic has a direct impact on your operations: if you transfer out some USDG at any point during the day, even if only briefly before transferring it back, the day's lowest snapshot may fall at the moment you transferred it out. The reward will be calculated based on that low point, not on the balance you held for the whole day.
Difference in interest calculation between funding accounts and trading accounts
This is the core issue behind the "don't confuse" warning in the title.
Funding accounts have relatively simple interest rules: the lowest snapshot balance of the day is the interest-bearing amount. If you leave USDG in your funding account untouched, the lowest balance equals your holdings, with no additional conversion.
Trading accounts are more complicated. USDG in a trading account can play multiple roles at the same time: available balance, frozen by open orders, or used as margin. OKX's rule is to use the smaller of "coin balance" and "coin equity" as the eligible balance for the day.
"Coin equity" usually equals the balance minus the occupied portion, such as funds frozen by open orders or locked as margin. If you place an order in your trading account that uses USDG as margin, or if USDG itself is involved as margin in leverage or futures positions, your "coin equity" will be lower than your "coin balance." The system uses the lower figure, which means occupied USDG does not earn rewards.
Practical suggestion: if your main goal is to earn rewards by holding USDG, keeping it in a funding account is simpler. USDG in a trading account only earns the same interest-bearing amount as your balance when it is completely unoccupied by any orders or positions.
Details of the interest calculation period
The daily snapshot period for rewards is 00:00 to 23:59 UTC+8. Rewards start accruing from the day after you deposit. If you transfer USDG in on a given day, the day's lowest snapshot value may still be 0, depending on when you transferred it in. A full day is only counted starting from the next day.
Regarding the distribution schedule, OKX made an adjustment in September 2026: starting September 21, rewards changed from weekly to daily distribution, with daily rewards distributed around 16:00 UTC+8 the next day. Starting September 22, the new interest calculation rule for trading accounts, which uses the minimum value, took effect.
USDG in your wallet follows a different set of rules
If you hold USDG in your OKX Web3 wallet instead of an exchange account, the wallet reward terms apply, which are an entirely separate mechanism from exchange USDG rewards.
Key differences of wallet rewards:
Manual claiming is required. Exchange rewards are automatically distributed to your account. Wallet rewards accumulate but require you to actively click to claim them in the UI. Otherwise, they may remain unclaimed.
Only USDG on the X Layer network is supported.
Your wallet must be linked to a verified exchange account to maintain eligibility for claiming.
The APY may be different. The wallet page displays an estimated APY for wallet rewards, which is a different number from the APR used for exchange accounts.
If you see USDG rewards accumulating in your wallet but they have not arrived in your account, first check whether you have manually claimed them. This is the operational difference most likely to cause confusion between exchange and wallet rewards.
Several conditions to verify
Minimum balance requirement of 1 USDG. Whether in an exchange account or wallet, balances below 1 USDG do not accrue rewards.
USDG in trading bots does not earn rewards. If you have allocated USDG to a trading bot, that portion does not generate rewards.
Regional eligibility. USDG rewards are not available in all regions. Availability depends on the jurisdiction of your account.
Advanced identity verification. Participating in the rewards program requires passing OKX's advanced identity verification.

If your rewards do not match your expectations
Check in this order:
Confirm which account your USDG is in. Funding account or trading account? If it is a trading account, check whether open orders, margin, or bots are occupying some of your USDG, causing "coin equity" to be lower than "coin balance."
Recall whether you made any outgoing transfers during the day. Under the lowest-snapshot mechanism, any low balance at any point during the day will lower the interest-bearing base for the entire day.
Confirm whether it is in your wallet. If the USDG is in your wallet, check whether you have manually claimed the rewards.
Confirm the deposit time. Rewards are calculated starting from the day after deposit. Transfers made on the same day usually do not generate rewards.
The reward APR is determined by OKX at its discretion and may be adjusted at any time. The estimated APR shown on the page is not equal to the actual annualized return you will receive. The actual credited amount is subject to the settlement records in OKX's system.
