How to Log In to Your OKX Account After Changing Your Phone Number
After changing your phone number, logging in to OKX comes down to one key factor: whether your old number can still receive verification codes. If it can, simply log in normally and then update your phone number. If not, select "Can't receive verification code?" during login and use facial recognition or device verification.
The following steps are based on the OKX App (iOS/Android). The web version has a similar flow but different verification options; we recommend using the App.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure of two things:
You remember your login password. If you've forgotten it as well, go through the "Forgot password" flow first—that's outside the scope of this guide.
Your device has a stable internet connection and you're using the latest official OKX App.
Step 1: Open the Login Page and Enter Your Account Information
Launch the OKX App and on the login page, enter your registered email address or UID (not your old phone number), then enter your password.
If you only remember your phone number and not your UID or email, tap "Find account" on the login page and follow the identity verification to retrieve your UID.
Step 2: Complete Verification and Choose Based on Your Old Phone Number Status
After you tap login, the system will ask you to verify your identity. Choose according to your situation:
Situation A: Old phone number is still active (can receive SMS)
This is the simplest case. The system sends a verification code to your old number; enter it to log in. Once logged in, immediately go to [Security] → [Phone Number] and change to your new number, otherwise you'll face the same issue next time.
Situation B: Old phone number is deactivated, cannot receive SMS
On the verification code input page, don't enter any code. Find and tap "Can't receive verification code?" or "Other verification methods". The system will offer alternative verification.
Step 3: Complete Alternative Identity Verification (Old number deactivated only)
After tapping "Can't receive verification code?", depending on your account's security settings, you may see one or more of the following methods. The page displays them based on what's available; you can't manually switch.
Method 1: Facial Recognition
What it does: The real-name verified person performs a liveness check.
How to do it: Follow the prompts to blink, nod, or shake your head. Ensure adequate lighting, no face coverings, and camera permission granted for the App.
Success: The system shows "Verification passed" and logs you in automatically.
Method 2: Device Authorization
What it does: Authorize the login from a previously trusted device (e.g., an old phone used to log into this account).
How to do it: Open OKX on the old device; you'll receive an authorization request; tap confirm.
Success: The new device shows authorization succeeded, and you're logged in.
Method 3: Security Code (Google Authenticator)
What it does: Enter the 6-digit dynamic code generated by your bound Google Authenticator (GA).
How to do it: Open Google Authenticator or a similar app, find the code for OKX, and enter it.
Success: Dynamic code verification passes, login succeeds.
Step 4: Change Your Phone Number Immediately After Login
No matter which method you used to log in, your first action should be to update your binding phone number:
Tap [Profile] → [Security] → [Phone Number].
Tap [Change Phone Number].
Enter your new phone number and request a verification code (you won't need the old number because you've already verified your identity through other means).
Enter the verification code sent to the new number and submit to complete the change.
Common Reasons for Failure
Facial Recognition Failing Repeatedly
Most common reasons: outdated app version, camera permission not granted, or poor lighting. Update the app to the latest version first. If it still fails, email front and back photos of your ID to OKX official support using your bound email and request manual processing.
Phone Verification Limit Exceeded
SMS verification has a rate limit (usually 5 attempts per hour). If you exceed it, wait until the next hour and try again.
Risk Reminders
Fake websites/phishing apps: When searching for "OKX login," it's easy to land on counterfeit sites. Always download the App from the official website or app store; never enter codes or passwords on third-party links.
Account freeze risk: After changing your phone number, active sessions on old devices remain. It's recommended to go to [Security] → [Login Device Management] and force log out of all devices except the current one to prevent misuse.
Code validity: SMS verification codes are valid for only 60 seconds; request a new one if it expires.
How to Confirm the Process is Complete
After logging in successfully and updating your phone number, perform two checks:
Log out of the current account, then log back in using the new phone number + password, and verify you can receive the verification code.
Go to [Security] → [Login Devices] and make sure only your own device is listed.
If both steps pass, the account has been successfully migrated to your new phone number.
