How to Verify a Remote Access Alert on OKX

Receiving a "remote access" prompt does not mean your account has been stolen — it only indicates that the login environment differs from your usual profile, and the platform has initiated a secondary verification. You simply need to complete confirmation using your own verification methods (phone, email, facial recognition, or device authorization), then check the device list to resolve the risk status.

In most cases, this alert is a normal response from the risk control system: changes in IP location, using a new device, or switching network operators can all trigger risk control. It is not a penalty, just an additional identity confirmation.

Prerequisites

Before starting, confirm these three points:

  1. You are logging into your own account and remember the login password.
  2. You can access at least one of: the bound mobile phone number, bound email, Google Authenticator (GA), or an old device that is already logged in.
  3. You are using the official OKX App or website (www.okx.com), not a page opened from a third-party link.

Step 1: Choose Your Actual Situation on the Prompt Page

When you see a pop-up saying "Remote Access" or "Abnormal Login Environment", the page usually asks you to choose one of two options:

Situation A: "I live in xx" (current residence unchanged)

You still reside in the country/region filled in during account registration. Choosing this option allows the system to verify your identity directly through conventional verification methods (SMS, email, facial recognition, etc.). Once verified, the prompt disappears and you can use your account normally.

Situation B: "I have moved to another country"

If you have indeed moved to another country, select this option. The system will guide you to update your residence information, which may require submitting proof of address from the past 3 months (such as utility bills, bank statements). After updating, your account will return to normal.

If you are only on a short business trip or vacation and have not changed your long-term residence, choose "Situation A", not "I have moved to another country". Once you choose and change your country of residence, you cannot change it back on your own.

Step 2: Complete Identity Verification as Prompted

After selecting "I live in xx", the page will list the available verification methods. The following methods are subject to what is displayed on the page, and may be one or a combination of several:

Verification Method 1: Phone Verification (Voice Call)

The system automatically calls the phone number bound to the account. After answering, follow the voice prompts — press "1" to authorize, press "2" to cancel. You can request up to 5 phone verifications per hour; if exceeded, wait until the next hour.

Verification Method 2: Email Verification

The system sends an email containing a confirmation link to the bound email. Open the email and click the link to complete authorization. If the link cannot be opened directly, copy and paste it into your browser's address bar.

Verification Method 3: Device Verification (Old Device Authorization)

If you have previously logged into the same account on another device (e.g., an old phone), the system will push an authorization request to that old device. Open the OKX App on the old device, and when prompted, click "This is me, allow login". This requires the old device to remain logged in.

Verification Method 4: Facial Recognition Verification (App Only)

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete a liveness check (blink, nod, etc.). Ensure sufficient lighting and no obstructions on the face. You can attempt facial recognition up to 5 times; if it fails, contact customer support.

Completion Criteria: After any verification method passes, the page automatically redirects to a successful login. If it does not automatically redirect, click the "I have completed verification" button on the page.

Step 3: Immediately Check the Login Device List After Logging In

This is a critical step to confirm whether your account has been compromised.

  1. Go to [My] → [Security Center] → [Login Device Management].
  2. Check the geographic location and last active time of all devices in the list.
  3. If you see any device that you don't recognize or that wasn't operated by you, click the [Logout] or [Remove] button on the right side of that device to forcibly log it out.

Completion Criteria: Only your currently used device and other explicitly known authorized devices remain in the device list.

Step 4 (Optional): Change Password + Set Anti-Phishing Code

If you are unsure about the reason for this alert, or suspect a password leak:

  1. In [Security Center] → [Login Password], change your password immediately. Use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
  2. It is recommended to set an anti-phishing code — after setting, every official email from OKX will carry this code; if it's missing, it's a phishing email.

Common Reasons for Failure

Facial Recognition Fails Repeatedly

Most common reasons: the App version is outdated, camera permission is not enabled, insufficient lighting, or insufficient movement. First update to the latest version, clean the camera lens and try again. If it still fails, send a photo of the front and back of your ID card to This email address is being protected from spambots. Risk Reminders

  • Temporary Freeze Feature: If you did not actively log in but received a "Remote Access" notification, you should immediately log into the App, go to [Security Center] → [Account Protection] and click [Temporarily Freeze Account] to block all fund operations. During the freeze, you cannot withdraw, place orders, or modify security settings, but you can view your assets.
  • Consequences of Changing Residence: After selecting "I have moved to another country" and updating the country of residence, some features may be restricted in certain regions (such as C2C fiat trading), and you cannot change it back on your own. Do not choose this option unless you have genuinely moved.
  • Always Use Official Channels: When searching for "OKX", you may accidentally land on a fake site. Only perform verification via www.okx.com or prompts within the App, and do not enter verification codes or perform facial recognition on unfamiliar link pages.

How to Confirm You Have Handled It Correctly

After completing Steps 2 and 3, perform the following two-step confirmation:

  1. Log out of the current account and log in again on the same device — check if the "Remote Access" prompt appears again. If not, it means the new device/location has been marked as trusted.
  2. Go back to [Login Device Management] and confirm that the current device shows as "In use", and there are no unrecognized devices.

If the prompt still triggers after logging in again, it means the IP or device profile differs significantly from the system records — this is normal. Just repeat Step 2's verification once, and after a few times the system will gradually learn your new environment.
