If your Bitcoin grid range is 25,000 to 30,000 USDT and the price breaks above 30,000, a normal grid will leave the range and pause. It cannot capture the next rise. OKX trailing up, also called moving grid, automatically shifts the whole grid upward so you can keep earning from the trend.
The official name of this feature is "Moving Grid". You do not need to adjust the moving range again and again. Just enable the option when creating a grid, and the system will automatically follow the price up or down.
Step 1: Find the creation entry and enable Moving Grid
Goal: Turn on the moving grid feature when creating a grid strategy.
Path: Open the OKX app or website, go to Trade → Strategy Trading, and choose Spot Grid or Futures Grid.
On the parameter settings page, find the checkbox for "Moving Grid" or "Trailing Up" and turn it on. This switch is usually below the grid number and range settings. It is an advanced option.
Check: After you enable it, the page will show some notes about moving grid. This confirms the feature is active.
Step 2: Understand how moving grid works
Take a BTC/USDT spot grid as an example. Suppose you set a range of 25,000 to 30,000 with 5 grids. In arithmetic mode, each grid gap is 1,000 USDT.
Moving up when price rises: After the price breaks above 30,000, the system automatically cancels the lowest order at 25,000 and places a new order at 31,000. The whole grid range moves from 25,000–30,000 to 26,000–31,000. It shifts up by 1,000 USDT.
Moving down when price falls: If the price falls below 25,000, the system does not cancel the highest order. It places a new order below, for example at 24,000, so the grid can keep capturing bounce opportunities after the drop.
Step 3: Set limit parameters
After enabling moving grid, you should set conditions like "Stop Moving Down Price". This gives the grid a bottom line and stops it from moving down endlessly. It works as a stop-loss protection.
In the settings, find the field called "Moving Grid Lower Price" or "Stop Moving Price". Enter the lowest price you can accept. For example, if you set 20,000, the moving feature will automatically stop when the price drops below 20,000.
Check: After you fill in all limit parameters and confirm, the system will show the estimated price list and moving range for the grid.
Risk reminder: Chasing rises is a double-edged sword
Trailing up can give you higher profits in a one-sided market. But the trade-off is that you keep buying at higher prices. If the price suddenly turns and crashes from a high level, your holding cost will be much higher than a normal grid, and your loss can be bigger. Grid strategies do not have a built-in take-profit option by default. You need to set a reasonable stop-loss price yourself to control risk.
How to check after setup
After creation, go to the strategy management page and find the new grid strategy. If the detail page shows a "Moving Grid" tag, and the grid moves automatically when the price breaks out of the original range, the feature is working properly.
