If OKX customer service can't resolve your issue, the formal complaint process follows a ticket escalation path: clearly request an "escalation to a formal complaint" within your existing ticket, or submit through a dedicated complaint form. Formal complaints have clear time commitments — acknowledgment within 5 business days, and a final response within 15 business days. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) and are not satisfied with the final response, you can also file an appeal with the Malta Financial Services Arbiter Office (OAFS).

First, Understand: General Inquiries and Formal Complaints Are Two Different Paths
Online chat support and bot Q&A are general inquiries, designed to quickly solve operational problems. A Formal Complaint is a separate process for situations where "customer service failed to resolve the issue, or you are dissatisfied with the outcome," typically involving account restrictions, fund disputes, service disagreements, and other issues requiring compliance team intervention.
Do not expect the online chat agent to directly "escalate" your issue to a formal complaint. If you have repeatedly contacted online support without progress, you need to proactively switch to the formal complaint channel.
Where to Submit a Formal Complaint
You can do this on both the web platform and the App. The key is to find the "Complaint" or "Formal Complaint" entry point, rather than continuing to describe the problem in a regular customer service chat.
In the OKX Help Center, you can submit via the online "Contact Us" form, or log in to your account and submit a support ticket through the bot. After submitting a ticket, you can track its progress in "My Support Tickets."
Key action: When submitting the ticket, clearly state "Formal Complaint" and briefly explain: what the problem is, that you have previously contacted customer service without resolution, and what your desired outcome is. Vague descriptions (like "my money is gone") may be treated as general inquiries.
If you are in the EEA, OKX Europe provides a dedicated online complaint form. You can also submit via email at
Timelines: How Long for Acknowledgment and Response
After submitting a formal complaint, OKX's process commitment is:
- Within 5 business days: Acknowledge receipt of your complaint and inform you that it is being processed.
- Within 15 business days: Provide a Final Response Letter explaining the decision.
If OKX cannot complete the process within 15 business days, they will inform you of a new timeline.
Note: This is the official process commitment of OKX Europe (the EEA entity). If you are using an OKX entity in another region, the timelines may differ. Please refer to the ticket confirmation email or page notification you receive.
Evidence: What to Prepare When Submitting a Complaint
A formal complaint requires more complete materials than a general inquiry. While there is no single "mandatory list," the following information can significantly improve processing efficiency:
Identity and account information: Registered email address, UID. You do not need to provide your password or private keys.
Problem description: What happened, when it happened, and the amount or currency involved. Write it out clearly using a timeline format.
Existing communication records: Ticket numbers from previous contacts with customer service, chat screenshots, and email correspondence. This proves you have already tried the regular channel without success and is the core basis for escalating the complaint.
Desired resolution: What do you want OKX to do? Is it lifting a restriction, refunding funds, or explaining a specific decision? The more specific your request, the easier it is to process.
If It Is Still Not Resolved After 15 Business Days
EEA users have a clear next step: If you are dissatisfied with the Final Response Letter, you can file an appeal with the Malta Financial Services Arbiter Office (OAFS). This is an external dispute resolution channel under the EEA regulatory framework.
Non-EEA users do not have a single unified official external arbitration channel. If the formal complaint remains unresolved, you can consider: reporting the issue to the regulatory body in the jurisdiction where the OKX entity you are using is located, leaving a record on a compliant consumer complaint platform, or taking further action according to the dispute resolution clauses in the User Agreement. User Agreements often contain arbitration clauses, meaning some disputes may need to be resolved through arbitration rather than court. Before taking legal action, it is advisable to first confirm the specific dispute resolution terms in the User Agreement you agreed to.
What Not to Do When Filing a Complaint
Do not disclose your password or private keys in the complaint. OKX will never ask for this information through the complaint channel. If someone asks you to provide your seed phrase or password under the pretext of "processing your complaint," it is a scam.
Do not submit multiple duplicate complaints at the same time. This will not speed up the process; it may actually delay acknowledgment due to conflicting information. Follow up using the same ticket. If customer service advises you to open a new ticket, then follow that advice.
Do not expect the complaint to change the outcome of an on-chain transaction. If the issue involves an on-chain transfer you have already signed and confirmed, or sending assets to an incorrect address, OKX generally cannot reverse or recover them. A formal complaint can address disputes at the platform service level (account restrictions, product features, fee disputes, etc.), not the finality of on-chain transactions.
